Grades of D | Rutgers School of Engineering
Quote:There is no maximum or minimum number of times you can get a D grade at Rutgers. But, if at any point your overall GPA, or major GPA drops below a 2.0, you will be put on Academic Probation.
You can graduate with a 2.0 GPA in a 40 course, 120 credits Bachelors Degree program with 14 A grades and 26 D grades = 2.05 GPA.
“Although a letter grade of D is normally considered passing, it is strongly recommended that you retake any D’s received in math, science and engineering.”

Tell me the difference between getting a D in a college course and transferring in alternative P/F ACE credits?

P/F typically means they meet a C or B equivalent grade. Not a D. Im not sure how to make it any more clear that getting a D is not good.

70% typically corresponds with C- (materially higher than D) and with 1.7 GPA (a lot higher than 1.0).
D typically corresponds with percentages less than 70% and with 1.0 or 1.3 GPA.
A conversion chart.

I am all for C’s get degrees, but that is the cutoff at most schools in general. If they are awarding degrees for people with a 1.0 then I have serious concerns about the program quality.
Standards shouldn’t be lowered just to allow people who otherwise wouldn’t have made the cut be allowed to pass. Isn’t that the argument you constantly (and inappropriately) use for abolishing government handouts, DEI, and affirmative-action?
The hypocrisy.

Standards shouldn't be lowered for say the physical requirements of the police and military yes but I have never argued that a passing grade should become a failing one.
