No double...plain old BS in Liberal Studies degree can you look over my roadmap?!
#1
So I want to start off by thanking everyone who chimed in on my obviously crazy idea of trying to double major. I looked into the law schools I plan to attend and most stress LSAT LSAT LSAT then your gpa. They don't much seem to care what that degree is in as long as your LSAT is high enough. That being said I developed a roadmap for my BS in Liberal Studies I'm not 100% on if I did it correctly or not so I'm asking for your advice once again! I promise after this one I will NEVER ask again! Where should I add or delete if anywhere? :patriot: God Bless You All!

Just glancing at the depths, 'Science' is a bit too broad. However, with all the psychology courses you are looking at, an arts/science depth in psychology should be absolutely straight-forward for you.

edit:

Another observation - some of the information used to produce the DSST grades may be a little out of date. Fundamentals of Algebra and Here's to your Health are both currently scored on the new scale (passing score of 400 - four oh oh) and are not awarded a letter grade, pass/fail only.

A copy of the latest Student Guide to Credit by Examination is available from EC's website once a person signs up for a free account. This is useful to check which DSSTs are graded, passing scores, etc in addition to other sources of credit.

I like the color coding. Wink

You can do the ECE for the Written English Requirement but I think the UExcel College Writing is easier, cheaper, and more pleasant because you get to see the result instantly.

You might consider doing the UExcel Psychology exam instead of the CLEP version as well, in order to receive graded credit.

Great job on your first attempt at this! You’re learning; don’t worry about asking questions.

Do you want a BA or a BS? Except for your choice of Business as a depth and some of your UL choices, the rest of your degree choices reflect a BA. If you want a BA, you could change the depth and UL to Arts & Sciences. If you want a BS, you could add more Applied Professional/Free Electives to LL.

A depth in Science, needs to be more specific like Biology, Chemistry, etc.

Are you going for a Depth, Area of Focus, or Major in Psychology?

I know it is possible to get a depth in Business, but I don’t know how to build one. For instance, will computing count? You’ll need to research/double-check that. Possibly if it is required for a major, it could work for a depth.

At EC, Substance Abuse and Here’s to your Health are Applied Professional/Free Electives not Arts & Sciences.

You may be able to find an inexpensive Info Lit course in your area. If not, I believe the Penn Foster course is still available for $115.

Also, this degree requires a Capstone course which is 3UL in Arts & Sciences.

You've got a good start. As you take exams, you might find other things you will want to adjust.

Another thought:

Consider including the Analyzing & Interpreting Literature CLEP (reading comprehension) for 6 credits in Humanities.

Also, if you get any ACE credit, like ALEKS (math), consider getting the 3 NFA credits for free.

If you have any questions about anything I have said, feel free to ask.

That's funny! I usually count that, but I forgot.

It may also be because you have a combination of BA and BS degrees in your plan. For instance, your gen eds are for a BA 12/12/9, but a BS only needs 9/9/6.

Yes, look again at the requirements chart in the Liberal Arts catalog and start removing some of the exams. It is a normal part of creating a plan.

I'm not certain, but I think you're still missing the capstone. As far as I know TESC is the only one of the Big 3 that doesn't require this class.

One other word of caution.. with children and hubby, don't be too hard on yourself if for some reason you don't quite get this done by 3/19. I was really upset with myself when I realized that at my pace (one clep a week), it would take me about a year to finish, but with my kids and work, I just can't go any faster. Don't give up no matter what and you'll be finished in no time!!!
