It just means that the ACE recommendation for credit expires on 1/31. So, if you take an ALEKS course like College Algebra, and pass before 1/31, then you can add it to your ACE transcript. If you don't pass before 1/31, then the credit recommendation expires, and you won't get college credit for it.
And once added to your ACE transcript, you are good. The credit that you earn while a course is still recommended is good forever, even if the course eventually expires. So, it doesn't disappear after 1/31 or anything.
