US History 1 vs. American Gov't CLEP?
#11
Westerner Wrote:American Gov is harder than US History 1. But try a practice test for each, and that can help guide you. Consider what you score, and what questions you're more comfortable with.
I agree with Westerner. American Government was the first CLEP I took. I enjoy government and had recently studied it in high school, so I reviewed my high school text book, and then used the IC flashcards - they were all I needed to pass the test.

On the other hand, U.S. History I is a very familiar subject. It is very broad as it covers a large time span- one important study tip is to know the timeline of events. In addition to my high school text book, I used this excellent website: HippoCampus - Homework and Study Help

If you have to take one Take the History.....but the best option would be to take them both in the same day. There is plenty of overlap and you could use the AM Gov for another requirement. And you will feel like gold coming out with 6 hours in a day.
