I see enough talk about Global Campuses here that it would be nice to have a forum specifically for schools like PUG. There are multiple plans on the Wiki already.
Purdue's name is really driving the school's popularity which in 2022 was already at over 45,000 enrolled. I have even recommended it to some people who wanted a well known name but still wanted to save money transferring credits.
Call the forum; " PUG and other Global Universities" ...or something similar.

Global Universities is an inconsistent subset of Other Colleges. There's not enough that makes universities or branches with Global names similar to each other. It's almost a coincidence of branding of some online units. Purdue University Global and UMass Global do both have CBE programs, but Colorado State University Global and University of Maryland Global Campus do not, nor does Penn State World Campus. University of Arizona Global Campus is in the process of potentially merging and subsuming into the University of Arizona proper. Several universities brand their online degree landing programs as Global Campus without necessarily being particularly transfer or alt-credit friendly, like the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville, flagship). Some others seem to use Global to brand traditional university international activities like international student recruitment and study-abroad.
East Texas A&M University and Southern New Hampshire University are more frequently discussed here than most Global-named universities, but nothing identifies them as Global.
PUG is a strong candidate for a new specific college forum but on its own. So are ETAMU and SNHU.

What would be a good term to classify them with the following characteristics as opposed to schools like TESU, Excelsior and COSC?
1. Named after an existing traditional brick and mortar university
2. Grants online degrees
3. Accepts alternative forms of credit
4. Accepts transfer credits up to at least 75% of a degree
Examples:
CSU Global - Accepts Alternate Credit: Yes and Transfers: 90 credits
UoM Global - Accepts Alternative Credit: Yes and Transfers: 90 credits
UoA Global - Accepts Alternative Credit: Yes and Transfers: 90 credits

Plenty of schools meet all criteria but are not called Global, including UMPI (already has its own forum, but relevant to the definitional question), ETAMU, SNHU, Liberty, Grand Canyon, Cumberlands, CUNY SPS, SUNY Empire, Wilmington U, and Bellevue U.
The large majority of colleges meet criterion 1, many meet 2, many meet 4. Only 3 is somewhat harder to find. Each criterion can be named quickly: B&M name, online, alt-credit-friendly, transfer-friendly.

I know about the schools recommended here but was looking for a way to fit in schools like PUG, UMass Global, CSU Global, UoM Global and UoA Global in a single basket. So something that meets all those criteria; B&M name, online, alt-credit-friendly, transfer-friendly.
For a school to be a good fit for these forums it needs to meet criteria # 3 IMO and accept alternative forms of credit and not just PLA since too many traditional schools are jumping on that band wagon and it has limited value.

We could acronymize
Quote:B&M name, online, alt-credit-friendly, transfer-friendly
as BOAT. "BOAT schools."
That set would include both the Global-name schools you listed and the non-Global-name schools I listed.
It would exclude WGU, Walden, and Capella. There are reasonable arguments on both sides as to whether it would include or exclude Phoenix, DeVry, and Strayer. Each was founded prior to the 1990s and had B&M instructional locations, which makes them "traditional," though their student populations in aggregate were "non-traditional."
It's perfectly fine to prefer a BOAT school in your school search, but it would cannibalize our perfectly fine general and other-school forums to have a forum dedicated exclusively to BOAT schools, and not WGU etc., but maybe Phoenix etc. Similarly, it wouldn't help to have a forum specific to schools with Global in the name that met these criteria.

Haha, I like "BOAT" schools but the acronym would definitely have to be spelled out in the description with examples like PUG.
I find myself searching for these discussions more and more on here and the B&M names are attracting a lot of people to look into them, even if they are rebranded private online schools.
Lets see if anyone else has any input on it.

CSU Global is not part of a CSU campus. It is its own entity. UMass Global is in California. The ACTUAL UMass is the main campus in Amherst, Massachusetts. Global is a meaningless word added to many online programs. Some of these Global colleges have changed their names over the years.

I’d think we are learning about sailing.
