It's an interesting approach. We've seen multiple posters on here want to learn via video as that's how they feel they learn the material best instead of reading or lectures. The only downside I see to this is that these are AP courses so only enrolled high school students can take the exams. Every exam isn't offered at every school either unfortunately. If they were somehow able to get ACE credits for the courses that would open a whole world of adults to them as well. The price point is really great at under $10 a month. I hope they continue to grow!

That's only if you DON'T REQUIRE CREDIT. If you DO, it's $69.99 ($70) a month - prepaid for 12 months - i.e. one payment - $840 a year!

I don't think it's worth paying $70 OR $100 a month for this kind of credit. This is all HS or AP stuff. I'm out. (I was never in.)

Yikes! At $70 a month I don't think it's worth it. Sophia is $79 a month and you can take as many classes as you can complete. No taking an exam later on either.

True - and with Sophia, you're getting college credit. This is strictly for HS students - and no bargain. Regular HS courses or AP, which requires a person to be enrolled in High School. 

And the linebacker's involvement cuts zero ice with me. Many sports figures, like doctors & dentists, are NOTORIOUSLY bad investors. Except, of course, Dr. Shaquille O'Neal , MBA (U Phoenix) DBA (earned - Barry University). I don't care for basketball, but I think the guy's REALLY savvy, business-wise. And certainly, he has the material things to show for it. Seen his yacht? Seen his house? Wow! Man lives WELL! 

Good luck to the linebacker -- nothing against him - don't even know him - but I just don't feel any enthusiasm for this enterprise at all. Hope he doesn't lose all his money. He worked hard for it - at a very tough job. To lose it would be a shame.

The only other way I've seen to get A-G credit for high school students is about $500/course. So this is a savings if you're taking more than 2 classes.

For those that are trying to get into a good college, it's better to have these classes (and pass some AP exams) than Sophia or whatever. Comparing those is like comparing apples to oranges.

I don't think having some sport's figure in the mix is really bringing any value to the project. Who cares about some football player? What is his education background? Is he qualified to work in education? Playing football or any sport doesn't mean one is qualified for any job.

Lots of schools don't even offer a ton of AP courses or exams so you could be throwing your money away. You still have to score well on the exam to even transfer the credit when you start college. My husband took a few AP courses in high school and didn't take the exams because he knew he wouldn't score a 4 or higher which was what his college required for the credit to transfer. He also had to pay for the exams and didn't have the funds to pay for them. My high school didn't have AP classes or exams until a few years after I graduated. AP isn't all it's cracked up to be. Seems like CLEP would be a better way to go. Those can be taken for free. And they're open to people of all ages.

If it's a famous football player, it might entice some of the... less scholastic students to actually study and pay attention in school. That said, I agree that it's too expensive and useless for most students. Khan Academy is FREE and you can probably learn enough to pass an AP exam there. If AP exams are, indeed, your goal.

Also, it seems he has an Economics degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  Do you suppose this qualifies him?
