Long story short....
I'm sick of getting passed for promotions because I don't have a bachelors degree and would like to test out 100% to get my degree within a year. I'm very smart, but chose work over school and now need that piece of paper to further my career. I'm in banking and have spent some time researching, but am best if I have a full plan to follow.
Please help!!!!

Do you need a degree in a particular major? The easiest degrees to test out of are business, psychology, social science, and liberal studies. TESC also offers the LDAS (learner designed area of study) option. Charter Oak has individualized studies.
Excelsior requires a capstone that has to be taken as a course through Excelsior for all of its programs. Charter Oak requires a cornerstone and capstone. TESC requires some form of a capstone for all of its bachelor's programs with the exception of the BSBA programs. You can completely test out of the BSBA in General Management at TESC. Also, are you concerned about cost? If cost is a concern, TESC might not be the cheapest option out of the Big 3. However, you'll still spend a lot less money than you would at most other colleges. WGU has self-paced, compentency-based programs and so does Northern Arizona University.
I'm mostly familiar with TESC, so I'll let others chime in on degree programs for the other two schools. There are EC and COSC plans on the Degree Forum Wiki, but many are probably not 100% test out, and some might be out of date. This is the case with the TESC plans too. Plus, these plans don't show all of the options that are available. They only show the one test/course the person chose to take.
Here are my 100% and nearly 100% test out plans for TESC. I didn't make one for liberal studies, but all you have to do is pick and choose tests/Straighterline courses from the social science, natural science, and humanities plans. I also didn't include all of the options for the general education requirements; but, again, all you have to do is pick and choose tests from the natural science, social science, and humanities plans.

Thanks for the post, and I'm wanting the degree to be in business. I'm going to be able to be reimbursed for my clep fees through work, which is really nice.
I'm really looking for something similar to a few I've seen being able to get their degree in 5-6 months.

Whether or not you'll be able to finish in 6 months depends on how fast you can study enough to pass the tests. Just choose a business degree from one of the Big 3, choose which tests you want to take for each requirement, take and pass the tests, apply to your school of choice, send your transcripts and wait for an evaluation, pay the enrollment fees, take the capstone/cornerstone if there is one, and then apply for graduation. That's really all there is to it.

Studying for a test, passing one per paycheck and paying for it yourself gets it done at the rate of 24-26 tests per year. It's like and added tax in your life but you are paying yourself in the end. Time management is you friend.
BA Liberal Arts in 2014 from Excelsior College. (Took 25 tests)
Certificate in Writing in 2018 from University of Washington.

Awesome advice, and appreciate it....
I'm going to pick up some books this weekend and try to enroll in my first tests in the next week or two...
One question I have is can I take the test without registering for a school, and once I get some tests under my belt enroll?

Im just gonna point out that if you went "liberal studies" you could complete about 30 credits via FEMA....they are quick and free at TESC and COSC. Since your stated goal is 1 year that would knock out a bunch of credit fast. You of course have to balance the value of that against your perceived value of a business degree.
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010
I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Tempting, but how would I find the rest of the curriculum I'd need? Basically what do these credits replace?
