Need some guidance on where to start!

I'm interested in getting a BA in Markeing, Entrepreneurship, or Business Administration. However I will make my decisions on choosing the path with least resistance.

Here are my questions that I was hoping to find guidence.

1) Can someone recommend the best institution that will accept the most "test out" credits. It seems that people get credits from various resources such as straightliner, DSST, TESC, etc. Do you find it overwhelming trying to keep tabs on who accepts what? Does meeting with an advisor of a chosen institution help you with this? Can they formulate a plan of action for you?

2) Additionally, I am a bit cofused with how to utilize this website (besides asking questiosn in this forum) to study for courses. Do I just use instacert flash cards, or do I need to get other material. I am sorry this sounds naive, but I truly am new to the world of testing out of courses.

I plan to knock out my core credits ASAP, I think Micro and Macroeconomics CLEPS are on my radar for my first go. Can I just use Instacert Flash cards to study or do I need additional material. I am a solid test taker, but I am intent on passing so I will do whatever it takes.

I don't know if you need only InstantCert flashcards or not, nor does anybody else here. There are plenty of opinions, but every individual is unique and what works for one may not work for another. You need to read the opinions of many and come up with a plan you are comfortable with. Your plan may vary depending on the subject matter. Flashcards may be the answer for certain subjects. For other subjects, you may need other approaches, either in addition to the flashcards or instead of the flashcards.

A popular series of preparation books are the REA CLEP books. There is somewhat of a consensus that these books are particularly good for history and social sciences such as sociology but not so good for other subjects.

Buy the official CLEP prep guide book. Don't get the latest version. Get one for a previous year because it will cost less. You won't get extra value for spending more money for the newest version. The practice tests will be the same in the newest and slightly older versions.

In addition to asking questions, you should use search. You can use Bing or Google as your search engine by adding the following to the end of your search string:

That's the way to go, the gen ed credits can be made in so many ways, but some exams for the core don't have replacements, meaning that if you fail you will be waiting for 3-6 months before you can take it again. During that time you can easily finish off your gen ed credits.

When you join IC you also get access to the specific exam feedback, this area can help with others experience in what helped them to study and what was important to know for the exam. The Peterson practice test are also recommended as a way to study, if you are military they are free others must pay. Free Clep Prep.com has also been useful to some.

The big 3 are fairly even it what credits they will accept it just varies a little, everyone has their favorites and it will depend on your credits and your major and personal preference which is better for you. If you can afford the application fee ~$75 each you can get unofficial transcript from any of them.

Advisers are not always the best to help with planning your degree, some don't like testing out, some want to make more money from you taking courses and some are just not as knowledgeable as they should be. Many of the people here cab be more help with plans until you are closer to your goal and ready to enroll.

It is difficult to say which college is more flexible with alternative credits, but I chose TESC because it allowed my to take the Business Administration capstone through Penn Foster.

You will read many opinions on how to study for the exams, but a lot depends on your goals. I find that video lectures and cheap textbooks work best. It is hard to be a $5 used textbook for study materials.

No disrespect, but I've seen several members claim this. I feel this is HIGHLY unlikely, that their motivation is money. These are bureaucrats who can care less on money. If anything (especially at TESC), they want you off their phone ASAP. Its known that for-profits engage in commission based compensation, but there is no proof of this going on at the "Big 3". Rude? Sometimes. Clueless? Often. Profit motivated? Don't know.

I am talking about other colleges that I or friends have talked to, where it seems they try to encourage taking courses because they don't like CLEP etc. and they want students to pay big bucks to the college to help support their jobs. Of course this is just my opinion of what is implied in these conversations.
