ï¼®eed TESC Help
#11
Oh that's wonderful! I have had 6 former students go to Japan/Korea/Taiwan to teach, and they all loved it. The one who went to Beijing had to come home early because the air pollution kept landing her in the hospital. Taiwan is celebrating her 7th year there and one of the girls in Japan is in her ninth year, I think.

FWIW, former students in Panama love it there too. Smile

Since you love the arts and also want to teach, here is a degree plan that majors in Humanities. To impress the TEFL recruiter, though, you have lots of literature and communications classes in the major, and you have a bunch of psych and education hours in your free electives. If you ever decide to teach stateside, the 12 hours in education will meet the requirements for most private school accrediting agencies, and will also help with alternate certification for public school.

You also have at least 24 credit hours of TESC TECEP exams and the Capstone so that you can enroll using the Pay Per Credit option, thereby avoiding the enrollment fee.

This obviously can be tweaked when you find out which AP credits you have, or if you just really don't want to take one of these exams.

Good luck and please keep us informed.

TESC has an age requirement that applicants be 21 years of age or older. If you're applying soon, you may need to request for special admission. I'm not sure what the chances of getting in are.... but students who enter through one of TESC's affiliates are able to get the age requirement waived.

Thanks, I already read a few threads on here regarding the issue. A few users received admission rather easily by e-mailing a page length essay to the admissions director.

I would love to travel and teach in other countries, but decided on Korea to rekindle family connections. It's reassuring to hear about the positive experiences your students received, although unfortunate in Beijing's case. Did they ever try relocating to another country or a more rural area in China?

Thank you so much for providing this detailed roster! Are there specific exams I should study and take first, like the general education requirements, or I can just pick and choose? I might group together similar subjects to study for and take the exams together.

There isn't any real order you need to take the exams, unless the exam has a prerequisite. Such as taking Calculus after Precalculus. I would suggest taking your general education requirements first in case you decide you want to switch your major at any point during your degree. I believe the general education requirements are either the same or very similar for different TESC majors so those credits should be able to transfer in case you decide you want to do something else.

Most of those users also had 60 or more credits upon requesting admission. The least I've seen is about 30 from a guy who was about 20 and a half at his time of admission. Just something to keep in mind, as you will need to prove you can handle college work upon requesting your waiver of the age policy. I personally applied with 78 credits at 18, so it is doable of course.
I'm a 19 year old, Software Engineer, who is enrolled at TESC for a B.A. in Computer Science. My bachelors coursework is completed and I am waiting for graduation to roll around. Will start pursuing ALM in Information Technology with a concentration in Software Engineering from Harvard Extension School sometime in the coming year.
