Need TESU clarification please
#1
Hi all,

I am about to enroll in TESU per credit tuition plan. I need about 12 hours to graduate.

I plan on doing the PLA evaluation for $379(12 credits) and the pay the $2,000 residency waiver. Under my plan do I have to take a TESU course? I also took the Kaplan PLA course and plan on using the course towards TESU PLA course. I took the Kaplan course early april so I will not have any ACE trouble.

Am I missing anything in my plan? I just want to make sure I have every outlined before I enroll.

Thanks!

What degree?

If you're going for an associates you are going to need to take the TESU cornerstone. For a bachelors you'll need to take the TESU capstone TECEP or course if you don't enroll in the PF course before the end of this month.

Hello again,
Yes, you're missing something in your plan! More details so we know what's happening or what you have! I am going by memory.
So, to recap, I think you are looking for the BSBA Accounting degree... with those 12 credits going all into Accounting Concentration.

The majority of the credits you have already from your previous Bachelors and your MBA would not count towards these credits. I assume you're using your experience from work and also the MBA to backup your experiential knowledge in accounting, you should be able to make it as long as it's documented properly with details of supporting that claim.

With the changes made to TESU, you now have to do the cornerstone if you haven't enrolled or locked into a previous year, that's $300 and 3 months.
There's the Strategic Management course, either you have to take it or go through a TECEP, another option, PF Strategic Business Management for $299.
Other than that, I think you should be fine, unless there was a clause in the notes referencing 24 credits required for the second bachelors - you may have completed the other 12 credits using another method or through other courses.

Good luck, you should be ready to go if that PLA comes back favorably. Just make sure you enroll before July 1 to bypass that Cornerstone.
The easiest and cheapest way is pay for a TECEP if you have applied already to TESU, as for taking a course starts on Monday, it'll be too late.
The only 1 credit TECEP is the Medical Terminology for $38 (APS-100).

Hi bjcheung77,

Can you please clarify your last statement. If I enroll/apply before July 1st I do not have to take a cornerstone course and just a TECEP?

Thanks!

Hopefully you're not too late,
Yes, that should be the case, if you enroll by July 1, you should be able to skip the cornerstone.

If you haven't applied yet, or just applied a few days ago for admission to the school, you won't be able to take a class. I don't know how late a TECEP can be registered for though, it technically ended May 24.

The only reason I was able to register for 2 TECEPS is because I registered for one and am changing the TECEP to Advertising, and getting an approval from registration to add TECEP for Med terminology.

The cornerstone went in to effect May 25th for those registering for the July term. Too late to avoid it.

This has been discussed, I reviewed it as the same date as you. That's correct as the info shows exactly on the per credit tuition fee page. But someone pointed me to the class and there is a phrase mentioning July 1. I sure am hoping its July 1 as I was let down with the cornerstone being C/NC or Pass/Fail, just a waste of my time.

Thanks for the information. I actually need 24 credits for a second bachelor's degree. Can I do the PLA evaluation option for all 24 credits and pay the $379 fee twice for 24 credits?

:p That's wishful thinking, however; no. If you read their info, you may do 12 for 379 and another 6 for 250. If they allow more, I will guess it's another 250 for 6 credits. You should quickly email their advising and admissions teams, both to indicate you want to be enrolled and skip the cornerstone, and to ask about maximum PLA credit limit/pricing. Do it ASAP.

This is exactly how it works. You can pay for as many as you like this way.

Edit: It's *possible* that the 90cr single-source limit may be applied to PLA's, I didn't think of that..
