Need Liberal Arts for COSC

I have a ridiculous amount of upper level credits and career specific credits. What I don't have is liberal arts credits.

Is it correct that FEMAs are NOT considered liberal arts? What about StraighterLine?

Any help is much appreciated. I need to get this wrapped up so I can start my Master's on time.

I think this list will help you to get started but I don't see Straighterline listed so someone more familiar with COSC can help.

I was just on with COSC getting my finances figured out and she said that for StraighterLine, to look at Math, Science and "Humanities". I much prefer StraighterLine to CLEP or other testing facility type things, as scheduling time to test is difficult to manage around my job. I actually love FEMA (so interesting! ) but that's not going to help, looks like.

Not familiar with ALEKS, is that anything that would help me?

Here is how COSC distinguishes between the courses. Charter Oak State College - Liberal Arts Requirements

ALEKS is great....if your decent at math. There are a lot of SL offerings that should work, but I don't think any of them will be Upper Level. Be sure you pay attention to the UL requirement I could be wrong...but I believe the UL Liberal Arts degree requireement is at least 18 credits (if not 30).

The courses are $300 each but University of Idaho has a lot to offer, self paced and at a fair price. Plenty of it is UL too. Find a Course-Independent Study in Idaho-University of Idaho There are others like LSU/BYU/CSU-Pueblo, Univerity of Arkansas....but U of Idaho is cheapest I believe.

I believe FEMA will only count as Free Electives or Professional level courses. Not 100% sure, I didn't use any.

I would really recommend picking a CLEP/DSST from the master list that was posted earlier. See if there's one on there that includes a topic you're interested in or already know something about. Studying for a test should take a lot less time than a SL class. Don't get me wrong, I love to recommend SL, but there is a lot of busywork in SL and of the few SL classes I took, each took much more time than a CLEP would have. Of course, that's just my opinion - YMMV

Also, I second the recommendation to make sure that your UL credits are covered. It never hurts to check with your advisor on that one. There are ECE or TESC exams that cover both liberal arts and UL, but they would take a little extra time to prep for - no need to waste that time if you don't need UL credits!
