Hello,
I need to take a Precalculus course that Excelsior will grant a grade for. This is a prereq for a health/medical major and needs to be graded. I also need to be able to complete it ASAP (by 10/20/11). So, a test or a rolling admission course is preferable. PLUS, it has to be under $300. I'm in California.
Suggestions are appreciated.

I'd try straighterline. For $99/mo plus $39 class. I think Excelsior actually converts to letter grade, but you'd have to find out for sure.

Another possibility is ALEKS pre-calculus. I don't know if Excelsior accepts ALEKS for credit like TESC does (though pre-cal is ACE approved) but you could always study it using ALEKS at $20 a month and then take the pre-calc CLEP test for ~$100. I'm not really sure which is better since I never used Straighterline, maybe someone else can compare them.
Also, TESC accepts ALEKS trigonometry as meeting the pre-calc requirement, so we don't even have to do pre-cal itself. Not sure about Excelsior on this, maybe someone else knows.
EDIT: Disregard, just re-read your title that you need a grade, nevermind

I don't think Excelsior accepts any SL courses for a grade actually, thats why many went through FHSU while they still could.
You could try Penn Foster. I'm currently working on 2 business courses with them. If you call and request courses individually it costs about $255 each with books and all necessities included. Final is online or a proctored exam sent to anybody with an AS (Friend maybe?).
As far are receiving a grade, if you send the PF and the ACE transcript to EC I have heard they accept the course as a grade, but I'll soon find that out.

Transfer College Credit for Online College Courses to Excelsior College - StraighterLine According to the transfer credits matrix at Straighterline, COSC is the only one of the big 3 that accepts SL classes for letter grades, so this doesn't appear to be an option for EC.
ALEKS/ACE credits do not transcribe with a letter grade at any school as far as I know.
I'd say the best bet is to find another school (like Penn Foster as was mentioned above) or a local CC (though timing might be rough there) which EC will accept for a letter grade. I believe that EC will accept transfer credits with grades for any PF class that is ACE approved.
Working on: Debating whether I want to pursue a doctoral program or maybe another master's degree in 2022-23

Just a note that if you opt for Penn Foster, you can send the Penn Foster transcript to EC by itself, there is no need to also send an ACE transcript. If going this route, just verify the Penn Foster course is ACE reviewed. EC will give you a letter grade for the class in this case.
