Must choose between CSU-Global and UW-Flexible options- Opinions?
#1
I was recently admitted into both CSU-Global BS - Management Information Systems and Business Analytics program, and University of Wisconsin- Flexible Option Information Science program. I am very interested in both programs and am not sure which one to choose. Does anyone have any experience they can share with either of these programs? They are both state schools, so I think they have similar credibility

CSU Pros

*Start date ASAP- August (UW put me in a November start date)
*Courses slightly more relevant to my career
*Can get additional credit by exam

UW Pros

*Pay per subscription, not credit hour, so I can really go at my own pace.
*I might get more financial aid

All of the University of Wisconsin schools are traditional schools. CSU Global is 100% online. I, personally, don't have a problem with this, but CSU Global is not a traditional school. UW's competency-based program will provide more flexibility than CSU Global. The CSU Global CBEs are nice, but you can only used a limited number of them. If UW is cheaper, then I would choose UW unless I really didn't like the curriculum. It really depends on how fast you move through their program and the amount of non-loan aid you will receive. They are one of the most, if not the most, expensive of the schools that offer competency-based programs. WGU, Patten, Hodges, and Brandman are some other 4-year schools that offer competency-based programs.

Thanks for the input. I am leaning towards CSU Global. I am really trying to wrap up this degree in as close to a year as possible, and CSU is giving me a 3 month earlier start than UW-Flex. I noticed you have taken a CSU Global CBE. I'm sure you can't give away too much about the exam material (and I don't want you too), but can you give any insight about the exam format? I want to take get some of my credits through the CBE option and am very curious about the style of the exam. For the sys analysis and design was it mostly essays and did the textbook really prepare for the material?

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.
