I took it today. Wrote up a short piece in the exam specific forum. It's not that tough, but definately give the thread in the other forum a look. Quite a few people have contributed to it, so you get a lot of targeted study materials.
Best of luck!

Aprilcam,
I took Ethics in America yesterday, too, and scored a 52 (lowest score of 7 tests I've taken). Not my best score, but it was enough for a pass. I think I would have done better if the security alarm had not gone off in the testing center. It rattled me so much that I forgot just about everything! Anyway, the feedback provided in previous posts made all the difference to me in preparing for this exam as well the others, e.g., know specific terms, additional resources, and using IC. As a result, none of the terms were a surprise. You definitely need to know the ethical theories and answer the yes/no scenario questions according to the theories and theorists given and not your own opinion and you'll do fine.
Chebasaz,
Great score on your exam! I was wondering. Were you offered the essay option for the test? My school requires the essay option but the proctor and I could not find it. I tried to call DSST but they were closed and I will have to wait until Monday to call. I'm wondering if the essay option is no longer offered or if I won't get credit towards the required Ethics class. I may have to take the ECE Ethics if UMUC won't accept the Dantes Ethics w/o essay so be sure to leave your feedback for that test, too!

I studied for two weeks off and on, mostly using IC, and it helped that some of the topics overlapped with a Greek history and a business management class I had taken years ago. Of course that's just my experience but as long as you feel confident that you have the theories down pat, you should do it.

I wasn't offered the essay at all. It never gave me an option and the proctor said she's never seen it either on the Ethics test. Check with UMUC and see what they say. I'll let you know how the Ethics ECE goes. I've already given EC about $800 this week in test fees, so I'll probably add that one later on in the week.
Good luck on UMUC and the DSST question!

Chebasaz,
Thanks for the info about Ethics in America. I talked to DSST this morning and was told that the testing center has to request the essay option and that I could do the essay separately, after the testing center received it, even though I had already taken the test. But I also called my UMUC advisor and she told me that the essay was optional so I guess I was worried for nothing. You are certainly on a roll with the ECE testing! I'm sure you'll do well.
