N.J. Governor Wants to Merge Thomas Edison Into Rutgers

Anyone know what the status is on this ?

I'm planning on getting my BA from TESC within the next year, but it would be nice to just say "Rutgers" when people ask where it's from.

No one is attending TESC for the "prestige" of it! They are attending for the test-out policy, lack of residency, cost, and or transfer policy- and in those categories, TESC IS SUPERIOR to other state colleges.

Lastly, if you are ashamed of where you are going to school, that's a personal problem- not a defect in the TESC educational model.

What do you think the odds are of this happening within the next year?

I'm hoping to apply to TESC within the next 2 months, graduate by January or February 2011 at the latest.

I do NOT want to get stuck with around 60 CLEP credits I can't use!

What do you mean what would happen? They would still have a degree from a regionally accredited college. Many colleges have closed in the past and records are usually passed to other institutions for them to maintain.

As far as prestige, TESC is a state school that happens to cater to adult learners. Saying that I have a degree from TESC is no different than many B&M schools throughout the country that people have never heard of. If you went to any number of these B&M schools you would have to explain the same things. I mention TESC, no one knows who they are, then I just simply state that they are a NJ state school. They are regionally accredited and if anyone knows anything about the education system that should be the end of the discussion.

Also, to say that you graduated from rutgers when you really graduated from tesc is very dishonest, and it is only a technicality that would prevent it from being a straight out lie.

Does anyone know any news about this? I'm really hoping to finish before 2011, I hope I have time.

Having this much CLEP credit has most likely committed you (and me) to the Big Three. Transferring to a different college is always tricky and adjustments have to be made for different requirements. I would not expect you to lose these CLEP credits, if for any reason you had to change to EC or COSC.

Not at all! I let out an AMEN when I read your post.

I feel the same, proud of my degree (AAS) with TESC. One more semester and my BASS is complete. I'm leaning towards staying on and taking the additional required credits for a BSBA. Will wait for tuition reimbursement to cover the masters. I'd rather not foot that bill if I do not have to, its pricey.

I agree I am also proud of my TESC AA and looking forward to my TESC BA.
