My "I'm done!" celebration
#1
I am finished, and will be graduating from Charter Oak on May 31. At times I doubted I would ever be able to say those words, but the help and encouragement I found here played a huge part in creating a virtual support system for this math-challenged, full-time working, wife, mom, grandma and slightly OCD student. I might also mention that I am graduating without one cent in student debt, and that is definitely due to the information I found here. I have used FEMA, Aleks, Excel, CLEP, DSST, TEEX, Straighterline, Kaplan, Coopersmith and classes from Danville Area College, Indiana University and Charter Oak. I would also like to pass on to any Southern Indiana students how great the staff at the testing center at Bloomington Ivy Tech has been where I have taken all of my tests. I started this journey with my first exam in 2008, and with the usual interference from life have taken 7 years to finish...thirty years after I finished nursing school. Everyone keeps asking me what I am going to do with my degree this close to retirement. Aside from the benefit to my job as a patient advocate, the benefit is the knowledge that I finished something that has been a goal of mine since childhood. As the Wizard of Oz points out, it's not enough to have it inside, sometimes you need the testimonial to prove to yourself and the world that you have the courage, brains and heart.
You have been my classmates, and I thank you all for the encouragement.

What a wonderful and exciting journey! :hurray: Thank you for sharing! Your story confirms what I always tell those who seek my advice...this is not a six month sprint, those that try tend to get burned out and never finish; Slow AND Steady Win the Race!!

Can't wait until you have the diploma in hand displaying your name, degree and date in script as the ultimate reward for all your hard work! Make sure someone is close by with a camera when you open the package. The beaming smile of pride is hard to hide. It ain't a time for modesty girl...let those pearly whites shine all day long!!!

Congratulations to you and your family! Drinks on me! cheersmate cheersmate cheersmate
