I've got one TESC course scheduled into my degree which is MAN-373 (Managerial Communications). I'm not looking to test out, transfer etc. because I want a GPA.
Here's my question: Do you know of any TESC course, be it Business, Management, Communications, or something else, that will work in place of Managerial Communications? I'm just wondering if this is the only TESC course available. I hear it's super easy, but I still like seeing several options before making a decision.
Oh, and is there a division of TESC where you can "preregister" for a course led by a specific professor? I've seen where you can register for classes in the online student services, but is there someone or some means (other then checking every day) in TESC that can be contacted if I wanted "Professor Awesome" who will teach a class in the near future? Or at least a way to be notified that course is open for registration. I doubt there is, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Thanks for insight and advice! As always, it's greatly appreciated!

I'm actually in the same position with a different major. My last class to take (and only one at TESC) is Managerial Communication. For my communications major I could take Marketing Communications (TECEP), Managerial Communications, or Leadership Communications (since I've taken the other upper level com courses already). I would say on yours you most likely would have to take that or maybe they would allow Leadership Communications instead. When they say "Managerial or Business Communications" maybe you could take a Business Writing course (like ENG-216 or ENG-217) but those are both PLA courses. You should get a definite answer from advising on that. I'd stick with Managerial if I were in your spot.
I'm registered for it for July, and will tell you that when you register it gives you a choice of teacher just like other colleges do. In my case I looked at some reviews and am taking Dr. James Young for the course (and there were a few other mentors on there as options). For the dates to register see the academic calendar:
Thomas Edison State College: Undergraduate Academic Calendar
TESC works like other schools do, they have set dates to register and give you a list of open sections and who is teaching. I'm not sure which part of the site you were looking at that confused you on that but it is pretty straightforward.
Maybe I'll have you in my class
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

I don't see much of a difference in those two courses so I'm sticking with Managerial.

I actually tried registering for the class with Dr. Young, but it's already filled up. From what I researched he got by far, the best write ups for that course! I may just wait till his class opens up again (hopefully that will be in the fall) because of how great he sounds! It would be nice if there was a way to contact them and ask if someone canceled if I could sneak in, but I guess I'll just end up waiting it out.
Let me know how it goes! I'd appreciate any insight!

I didn't realize it had filled up. Someone might drop but they don't seem to have a good enough system to have a waiting list. My CC has a waiting list and it holds you a spot and then emails you if it opens up. Since it is your last course I wouldn't put off doing it unless you find something bad about the other mentors. If they were to let you do Leadership Communication instead of Managerial then you have a few other instructors to look at but I have to agree that Young appears to be rated quite well.

Yup, a waiting list or something is all I was asking for. I have till Dec to finish my degree (just a personal goal - Get entire Bachelor's Degree before I turn 18) so even then I don't NEED a degree by that time, as long as I finish by this time next year (I just enrolled in TESC). Since it's my only course I want to get as high a score as possible, especially since this one course will determine my entire GPA. Thank goodness it's supposed to be an easy one!

Update: I had an Academic Advisement call with TESC this morning and they recommended that I call the Office of the Registrar. I did so and they were able to get me a slot.
Looks like we'll be in the same class after all cooperalex2004.
