Meteorology degree or YOUR THOUGHTS??
#1
I have only spoken with TESU and with all the Meteorology and Oceanography training I have received in the Marine Corps they HIGHLY suggested that I stick with a Earth Science/Weather/Meteorology type degree. I have listed all my credits that TESU says I have with them....but what do you all think? Is there a better, more marketable degree that anyone sees as being a more worthwhile endeavor?

Those are awesome yet funky credits, there was, not sure if they do still have an AA in Meteorology degree.
At the Bachelors level, I don't think they have one, your best bet is to have them evaluate it as a BSAST.
Ask them to redo the evaluation to a BSAST Technical Studies degree, I think you may just have to do the Gen Eds!

Thank you for your service! Are you paying cash, using TA or GI Bill or Voc Rehab, or standard federal student aid?

Better fits than TESU might be:

Mississippi State (who also have pretty cheap online grad degrees all the way to PhD). They have a certificate and a BS Geosciences, Broadcast & Operational Meteorology.

University of Arizona's BAS ("Applied Science") Meteorology

There may be others (or options like Penn State's online certificate, though they don't offer a full degree online for this.)

I'd probably take the path of least resistance. Then I'd use your tuition assistance on a kick ass Masters.

But what's the end goal? What do you hope to use the degree for?
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

I would also recommend going somewhere else, especially since TESU stupidly got rid of its Natural Science major.

It's hilarious that they suggested that, being that they don't have one of those degrees!!

But, they do have a BALS with a Natural Science concentration. I created a degree plan for you, with all of your EAS courses in there. You easily have enough credits to fulfill all of your AOS, so that's an easy one.

I show you needing English Comp II, a Diversity requirement course like Sociology or Anthropology, an Ethics course like the Free Insurance Ethics course, and a Civic Engagement course like American Government.

Then, if the EDU courses would count as Gen Ed (I'm not sure here), you could put those in. Otherwise, you need 2 more Gen Ed's.

If you're not under the military plan, then I suggest you sign up with Study.com to get those courses completed (6 total max, and they have them all). Then, you get all the discounts under the Study.com affiliated plan.

If you get some special deal through the military, then by all means use that instead - BUT ONLY IF IT'S A BETTER DEAL!! Don't use it just because it's military if you'll end up taking longer or spending more.

Most of these courses, including the UL ones, are in EAS and ENS - natural sciences. I don't think they count as technical studies or applied science stuff. So that's probably not going to work for you at all. But it can't hurt to check.

^ this

it seems you already have just about enough credits for a BA in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Natural Sciences/Mathematics
BA in Liberal Studies Degree at Thomas Edison State University

might have to do a couple of CLEPs or straighterline's, but it seems like you could get this degree in very little time and very little cost

and use the rest of your money for a Masters in Homeland Security or something

I hate liberal studies degrees and believe they should be avoided unless they're the only option.. Excelsior has a Natural Science major, and their military deal is better unless you don't mind taking a bunch of TECEPs you don't need to meet TESU's residency requirement.

If you don't do TESU's military program, which requires 24 credits in residence, you will have to pay $1800-2500 for the residency waiver plus $1100-1500 for the capstone. At Excelsior, you won't have a residency requirement if you pay the $760 enrollment fee. Their capstone will be $750.

A natural science major will be more marketable than a liberal studies major with an 18-credit concentration.

I agree with this - not a huge fan of the BALS, I was kind of just thinking that the OP might need a check-the-box degree.

So EC is definitely a better option if they have what you want, I just don't have enough info there to be able to help with the degree. I would pay to apply and get an eval there if it were me.
