I'm in OK, and we've got some of the strictest requirements for the psych professions... Fielding's recertification to Clinical Psych isn't even offered for residents of my state, even though its an APA approved program.
With a MA I would go for LPA- Licensed Psychological Associate. I was accepted and planned to enter Liberty's MA in Professional Counseling (60 hour) since it met the requirements for every state I would consider living in but since I am active duty military it would take me about 4 years to do it since I don't want to use my G.I. Bill for it or pay out of pocket. I think I have decided to get a different 30 hours MA in the mean time while I decide what I want to be and then if I care enough about it, get out and do a full in residence MA/Doctorate for Psychology.

Yeah, I was just looking over the requirements... 30 hours of residency for a 36 hour degree is kinda heavy handed... Its almost silly. It almost sounds like the big colleges in the state have a bit of hand in the regulations...
There's no local schools with online classes for you that would be able to cover the 30 hours in a timely and cost effective manner?
Due to the regulations of OK, I realize I'll never be a psychologist in this state, unless I end up moving out, getting licensed and practice in another state that has a reciprocation agreement, and moving back... That's too much work.
I figure after my MA in Experimental Psychology, I can either get grad certs to fulfill the rest of what I need for my 60 LPC credit requirement, or do a Psych doctoral program at a place like Northcentral to get the credits and a handy Doctor title (that I'll have to have a disclaimer running every time I use it: I'm not a licensed psychologist nor do I play one on TV nor am I a medical doctor of any sort, but I got this piece of paper that lets you call me Dr. That'll be $300 for this visit.)
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.
Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

A local college would cover half of the requirement but I would still have to do 30 credits in the class room. They specifically say in the FAQ that they don't feel that online classes meet the requirement of "at the institution." Their hands are tied because of the way the law was written. They won't pre-approve any programs either and I am not willing to do something and then not get licensed afterward. Although, I could do a program that would allow me to get into a doctorate program when I chose even though I couldn't get licensed with the MA.

Gotta love laws like that... Silly politics... They need to get themselves up to the standards of the new millennium. DL is not just the wave of the future, its the wave of *now*.
