MSCHE accreditation regional?
#1
I got a bit confused on MSCHE accreditation when I googled. Is this regional accredited or national accredited?

What does this even mean?  Undecided

From wiki:

Quote:Until federal regulations changed on July 1, 2020, it was considered one of the seven regional accreditation organizations dating back 130 years. MSCHE, which is now considered an institutional accreditor, is recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

They are regional but are trying to comply with the new federal regulations. You can see the 7 regional accreditors here: https://www.chea.org/regional-accreditin...ditor-type

Once upon a time, the regional accreditors had similar acronyms, so it was easy to figure out (they all were a 1- or 2-letter region followed by ACS or ASC).  Then they all decided at some point to make it ridiculously confusing, renaming everything, making the names longer, and repetitive, except one.  There is no rhyme or reason to what they did, except make the situation worse (as usually happens with "updates."  It's like they all decided that people being able to figure it all out was a bad thing, so they made it exceptionally difficult).

MSACS (Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools) >>   Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
NCACS (North Central Association of Colleges & Schools) >>   Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
NEASC (New England Association of Schools & Colleges) >>    New England Commission on Higher Education (NECHE)
NWASC (Northwest Association of Schools & Colleges) >>       Northwest Commission on Colleges & Universities (NWCCU)
SACS (Southern Association of Colleges & Schools)  >>           Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
WASC  (Western Association of Schools & Colleges)  >>          WASC Senior College & University Commission (WSCUC) +
