Lindagerr is really close to the 2,000 post limit. I'm starting this thread to help her get there. So Linda, how long have you been posting here on DegreeForum.net?

Thank You Daithi. I flew down to SC today so I will probably not be on much the next few days. I was hoping to make this milestone before I left home.

I started posting and getting great advice back in 2007.I had enrolled at TESC in oct. 06 and I had started with a TECEP I was a nervous wreck and studied hard before I took that exam I did great, but I knew I would never finish even an AA
that way

I will try to tell the next chapter tomorrow. i am falling asleep now,
Linda

I really was half asleep last night. I think I fell asleep twice while writing that and ended up with all that space between end of post and signature :o. So as I was trying to say I found this forum looking for a better study resource and the rest is a wonderful success story to all my great friends I have met on here. I finished my AA decided I could do a BA and started towards a Liberal Studies BA until Cook and some other great people here helped me figure out the Natural Sciences/Mathematics BA would be a better choice. Once I had my AA I could substitute teach in my local school and I figured that would be a good way to earn some extra money while finishing my degree. I ended up loving teaching and almost went on for my MAT. I went through some rough times, financially, personally, academically and career wise, but the wonderful people here helped and encouraged me every step of the way. I have made some friends I talk to off the forum and many friends on the forum who I love to watch reach their goals one by one. When we moved to Western NY in March 2012 I was lonely and missing all of my friends back in NJ, but my DF friends were still there for me. I still have not made any friends in NY (it is hard when you don't have children and don't work) but when I talk to my family I always mention my Forum friends. So even though I have finished my formal schooling I like to keep in touch and try to pay forward some of the wonderful advice that helped me so much. So I will never have near as many post as Cook who started not long before me, I will stay in touch and put my 2 cents in now and then. I also am trying to talk my children, grandchild, nieces and nephews (not to mention everyone else I meet) into trying or considering testing out. So you will be stuck with me trying to keep up with all the TESC changes and trying to learn something new all the time.

Hello Linda - Thank you for sharing! What is one thing you wish someone would have told you while you were in the middle of your degree?

Yea with this one down to seven. My nieces are doing homework so I have a few free moments. They are teenagers so the last thing they want is help. My sister and her husband are celebrating there 25th wedding anniversary, I got them a time share in western NC and they are on there way. The neighbors tied balloons to the antenna and plastic cups to the back bumper BIL wrote Married 25 years on the back window. I think this is only like 2nd time they went away together without kids since 1st one was born. OK homework is done bye for now.

Thank you Daithi this should be number 2000. It took aq few days longer than I thought, but it only took 6 1/2 years. I don't know how Jennifer raises 5 (I think) kids, home schools and all her other projects but still has over twice as many post. She must only sleep every other day.

Thank you Daithi.

@Kingdomunshaken I think the important thing is to look well before you leap. Make sure you are going for the right degree for you in the most efficient way. BUT do not look so well that you let it keep you from getting started. Even if you need to start with a generic exam or class do it . If we hesitate to long you will never get started. I could have had my degree 10 years earlier if I had not given up on CLEP because I didn't know enough and it seemed to hard.

Thank you, Lindagerr - it is so encouraging to hear from those of you who are on the other side of your degree, and it's definitely easy to rush into an idea that sounds good before really thinking it through and then give up when it doesn't work out the first time. I really appreciate you sharing!
