Regarding 12 credit req of EC Partnership program (POAG)
#1
Since I am applying for financial aid and would need to take Excelsior courses anyway, I figured I might as well sign up for the POAG program like some of the members here suggested. I'm a bit confused about the 12 credit requirement to get the discounted rate. Does this mean I would have to complete a total of 12 credits within a year (two 15-week terms x 6 credit each term?) or does it mean I have to complete 12 credits before I finish my degree? The reason I'm asking is because I plan on doing an AS in Computer Software then immediately after I want to get my BS in IT. So would I have to complete 12 credits for the AS degree and then another 12 for the BS degree (24 total)? That would really suck since Excelsior's tuition is not that great even with the discounts. $270 x 24 credits = $6480. Yikes! I was hoping to stay under $10,000 total for both degrees and I don't think I would be able to if I had to take 24 credits at EC. Can someone familiar with POAG please clarify this for me? Thank you.

12 credits before you finish the degree...

I believe it would indeed be per degree. Honestly, I think its easier to build up as much outside credit as you possibly can, xfer it in and then graduate with a BS, skipping the AS portion of it, unless you need it for work or your resume. Or, get the AS requirements covered outside, and pay the $1400 for the AS, and enroll for the BS under the POAG membership, and take the 12 credits from there.

Of the Big 3, EC is still the cheapest to enroll in, transfer 60 credits, and then graduate with an AS at ~$1400, compared to Charter Oak (~$1630) and TESC (~$3135).
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

Yeah, I think I might have to scratch the AS and go straight for BS. Bummer...I definitely wanted the AS for resume and work but if it's too expensive, I won't do it.

Okay, another dumb question for you (yes I'm full of them). The difference between the AS in Computer Software and BS IT is only 2-3 classes. So lets say I go the BS IT route and finish all my courses but don't apply for graduation yet, and instead I do the 2-3 classes to fill the AS requirement...could I apply for graduation for both degrees at the same time? That way I might only have to pay 12 credits lol. Or is it still 12 per degree? I would ask an advisor at EC but I'm not enrolled yet.

I contacted Excelsior today and they told me that it would be 12 credits per degree if I go for a 2nd bachelors degree which is my plan, I didn't ask about an associates but if they are related sounds reasonable to have a different policy.

You can't apply for graduation for both degrees at the same time as they only allow you to enroll in one program.

If you are enrolled in the Bachelors and you have all the requirements for the associates complete, you could request a change of program and graduate from the Associates. If you are getting the Bachelors in the same field I don't knwo if another set of 12 credits would be required (I hope they don't)

That is something worth of finding out. If anybody can figure it out for the benefit of the DL community it would be awesome!

Thanks in advance to that charitable soul.
