Last Minute CLEP advice...........
#1
Hello everyone.

I am scheduled to take the Principles of Management CLEP tomorrow @ 3pm. I just wanted some "feedback" from you guys.

I have gone through all of the IC questions 3 times. I've read 12 out of 25 chapters of the Barron's Business Review Book on Management. I've also gone over some powerpoint presentations that someone listed in the specific exam thread.

I took the first test on the Petersons site and got 73 right out of 100. I have not taken the last two practice tests yet. I will take those today. I also did the practice exam in the Official CLEP study guide and got 63 right out of 92 questions. I probably would have did better but I was stone tired and took it at 7am with no sleep!!! Just didn't have anything else to do!

I guess I am just a little bit nervous. This will be my 2nd CLEP that I've taken this month. My first was Social Sciences & History which I took on 4/1 and got a 60. Just wanted some last minute tips. A hug would be nice also!!!

Thanks in advance guys/gals for all of your continued support.

I should have known You were up. Mr. I-Never-Sleep!!! Knowing you...you probably are over there right now analyzing how to get another degree!!!(smile)!!!

That's all I needed to here. And coming from someone like you that means something. I'm going to still study my butt off today and do a brief overview in the morning; eat a good breakfast; drive to the testing center; take the test; and come home with 3 credits!!!!

Thanks again Shoto. If you don't hear from me anymore today I'll definitely be posting my pass tomorrow!!!

See ya soon.

From a loyal degree seeker,

Marshall

P.S: I'm going over the CliffNotes for Principles of Management on Online Study Guides and Free Homework Help - CliffsNotes as we speak.

You're fine. That was my second CLEP as well, and I used only the REA book (before I knew about IC).
I see that you're in Dayton, I just moved from Middletown, OH about a year ago. I took my first 2 CLEPs at Wright Patterson AFB there in Dayton. Good luck.

Thanks Chuckers!

I'll be taking mine at the University of Phoenix on Poe Avenue in Dayton. It's only about 7 miles from my house.

I think I'll probably get this way before every CLEP I take! I think that's just the way I'm built. I always feel the need to be overprepared. Based on the practice tests I've taken, the reading I've done thus far, and the IC review, I still don't feel "confident." Even though I know in my heart I will pass. It's weird. I guess I shouldn't act brand new to this. I saw a couple of therapists and they both said they think I have an anxiety disorder! I guess it just sucks 2 be me!!!!

Thanks again you guys/gals for all your continued support. I am always all ears for your advice and input. Good luck 2 all on their educational journeys. Peace be with you all.

You'll be fine. I took two Peterson's practice exams and scored 74 on them both and took the CLEP the next day.

I get a lot of doubts right before taking an exam, too, so I'm sure what you're feeling is normal, for some of us at least.

Good luck, Marshall!

My wife always laughs at me. I haven't taken an exam yet that didn't deserve the utmost respect. But my NEXT exam always makes me nervous, until it is over.

------

BEFORE EVERY EXAM

Me: "This next exam could be a tough one."
My Wife: "You said that about the last one."

Me: "I know, but this one REALLY seems like it might be hard."
My Wife: "You'll figure it out. You're going to do great."

Me: "I know but...."

AFTER THE EXAM

My Wife: "How did it go?"
Me: "I think I did alright, but I'm not sure. I'm glad it's over."

WHEN THE SCORE ARRIVES

My Wife: "Well, how did you do?"
Me (smiling): "I aced that sucker. It was SUCH an easy exam!"

THE NEXT DAY

Me: "This next exam could be a tough one."
My Wife: "You said that about the last one."

Me: "I know, but this one REALLY seems like it might be hard..."

------

Ha ha! Round and round we go!

Is this you too? I read this and thought that it sounded pretty familiar.

Thanks Wendy for your helpful posts. I already told you how awesome you are!!!

Chuckers...I don't know where you got that from but I was smiling the whole time I was reading it!!! That is me!!!!! I did the same thing when I took my very first CLEP!!! We humans are strange creatures!!! I guess that is just how I am going to be...every exam!!!

Thanks again for that post Chuckers. I feel good knowing that I am not the only one. Sometimes I need a reminder that I am human, I am not perfect, and I am quite normal.

That's why I will always be eternally grateful for finding this site. You guys are so awesome. I was telling my mother about you guys last night. She signed up for a Principles of Management class at the local CC in late March of this year. I get a kick out of knowing that 27 hours from now, I'll have 3 credits for a class that I only spent 11 days of studying on!!!! She stated that she's been slacking on her reading and that she may need my help with some points!!! Got midterms comin' up. You know what else is funny?...It's only gonna cost me $80 total tomorrow to get 3 credits. She spend $113 on just her textbook alone!!! I love CLEP!!!!

I will always spread the word about CLEP and IC. I wish I had known about CLEP years ago. I could be ShotoJuku by now!!!!!!

Thanks again.

It sounds like you are very ready for this clep, the best I can tell you is take a deep breath and don't panic. If it makes you feel any better I am so nervous when I go to take an exam that the two people who work at the test center I use always laugh at me and say why are you so nervous you always do fine. My family just looks at me and says you always do fine don't be so nervous (my youngest duaghter says chill mom you'll do great). Sometimes I think I get so nervous about them because I don't want to disilliusion the kids.

We should all share how we 'behave' the night before an exam. For me that night is my cram session. My kids love it because it's a definite pizza night for them. I go back and forth between study guides, practice exams, study notes and IC flashcards, the entire time thinking, "Oh my God, why am I doing this to myself? I have not prepared enough - what was I thinking when I scheduled this exam??!!" My husband is basically like "Here we go again..."

It seems like no matter what exam I'm preparing to take, I still go through this routine of crazed doubt the night before.
