I'm finally close to an Accounting degree at TESC.

milelol: My last 2 requirements are P 0f Fin and Business Policy. Are there any feelings about testing or on-line courses for these two. BTW, I haven't taken any course sat TESC yet so everything has been transfered in from CLEP and county college courses.

If you take the actual courses through TESC you should get a GPA when you graduate...

I guess my question is, if a GPA doesn't matter, only the BSBA degree, would you test out of these courses or take them on-line. Which would be the easier route. I'm 58 and studing gets harder and harder.

You are so close to the finish line!
Principles of Finance - many forum members take the dsst exam. I took the Penn Foster course and it took one week to complete (not counting the final exam shipping time). You can search the forum if interested; I seem to remember reading the final is now submitted online.
Business Policy can only be taken at TESC. The course has a reputation of being a bear (too much time spent on heavy written assignments). The overall recommendation has been to take the tecep exam, I'm studying for it now. Check the specific feedback area.
If you want a GPA you might want to take a course. If not testing and/or Penn Foster might be more time/cost efficient. So far between two bachelors programs I've taken nine TESC courses and a tecep along with testing and alternate coursework. Although rigorous I've enjoyed the TESC courses.

Yes I took the penn foster financial mgmt course and the final exam is untimed and with no proctor.
You are given a bunch of questions to answer and you need to show your work in a word document. You upload it and within a day or so you get a grade.
Its pretty sweet. I was so worried about the finance dsst so I took the PF class and did great.

Hey, Ryoder. How does the PF final thing work? I've signed up for 5 courses, and they put me under two different IDs. (Something about if I had them all under one ID I'd have to take all 5 finals on the same day. Supposedly, I'll now be able to break it down to 2 exams one time, and 3 exams another time.) I was only shippped one course under each ID. I'm more than 50% through both courses, but I haven't been contacted by anyone about my finals. What order do I follow? Do I put in the proctor info first, and then then send me info on the exams? Were the finals open-book? Is the procedure similar to the course exams in that the final is multiple choice? Any info you can provide would be appreciated.
Hope your Pap continues to do well.

They auto-ship materials to you once you get to a certain number of online "exams" completed. Do your proctor request form ASAP. They will auto ship the test to the proctor as well. Each exam has different requirements but my proctored exams were closed book and timed and had some multiple choice, short answer and essay questions. The systems analysis and design courses had proctored finals but the financial management course had an unproctored, untimed online final which was basically a massive assignment submission.

Thanks. I thought that they auto-shipped, but I'm still confused. One of the FAQs on the PF web site said I'd get info on my home page (or one of my pages) about the testing once I reached a certain point. I think that I'm passed that point on at least one course, but I haven't seen anything. I'll call them up. I'm doing the financial management course, training, consumer, labor, and another one. Joy. Maybe I'm going about it the wrong way, but these courses are harder than CLEP/DSSTs. Some of the quizes are worded weirdly. Each course is a bit different about how it plays out. It's like having many of the problems of a B&M course, but without the benefit of interaction with the instructor. Well, everything is a learning opportunity. I think that I'm learning that I'd prefer to test more and take fewer courses!
