LSUS VS WGU MBA

Hello everyone, my wife got accepted to both LSU Shreveport and WGU for her MBA.


She is working full-time and would like to complete a program in a 12-18 month time frame. LSUS appeals to her to due to the HR specialty and structure of the coursework (set time frame vs more freedom with WGU). She likes WGU because the program seems reputable and prefers pass or fail.

She will be working in the southwest United States, if that matters for reputation, and feel the cost (around $15k) is what she can afford within her budget. Any input about these programs, especially from people who have completed or are currently enrolled, would be extremely valuable.

I have not attended either. I do have a friend who loved her experience at LSUS. If I were to choose between the two, I would choose LSUS. For me, it comes down to the fact that I need a set schedule. I tend to procrastinate when I have to set my own schedule. Of the two, I also think LSUS would have a better reputation.

LSUS is part of the LSU family, but the famous LSU that everyone knows for their football is their flagship location in Baton Rouge. Your diploma will say LSUS and it is not in the SEC.

That being said, I don't see a problem with listing LSU-Shreveport on your resume.

If you take two classes per 7 week term, you can graduate in 10 months.

@25BangBang, has your wife looked at any other options besides these two? No only are the cost, learning style different, but their programmatic or secondary accreditation differs as well.  LSUS has AACSB and WGU has ACBSP, preference should go to AACSB programs over ACBSP, thus I would recommend LSUS over WGU.  Having said that, as an example, there are other similarly priced programs also with AACSB, such as GSW (Georgia Southwestern) https://www.gsw.edu/college-of-business-...ba-program

In my experience, people in Louisiana don't distinguish any difference between LSUS, LSUA or the flagship. If you're in any of them, you're an "LSU guy" and its assumed you root for the flagship athletics teams. 
I'm sure there are some circles that gatekeep, but I've never encountered any of them.

I would go with LSU if timing is not an issue. I got a degree from WGU because I wanted a fast masters, but if I was going to be spending what you are spending I would have gone with a school similar to LSU.
