I did the paper version of the test and I am very certain I have failed, a little more than 1/2 of the test were questions/topics that where not on the IC cards or the stuff that I read from the forum and worst yet is that I have to wait 2 weeks to get confirmation of my defeat on it and 6 months for a retake... and I was hoping to graduate in 3-4 months or so from tesc sigh...

Well, I sincerely hope that you passed but don't be so sure that you didn't. There have been several tests where I was terrified to hit the "submit exam" button but I did and wound up passing. In fact, Astronomy was just one of those exams for me.
The worst part is the waiting for the envelope to come in the mail. Keep up the faith and keep plugging away in the meantime.
Best to you,
Kelly

I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in this. I took this exam this week, too, and will be waiting for my score. I thought it was a very hard exam, but I am hoping that it will turn out better than it seemed. I think the best thing to do now is to try to not think about it too much and go on to studying for the next exam.

I hope I passed too, for all intent and purpose I haven't done any test that I didn't feel at least 80% confident that I would pass, but I must have had like 10% on this one. But like you said I can only wait now and move on.

Yea, will do that. I just didn't want to fail so miserably right out of my first DSST exam. I actually only took the test because the test center near by (at the local UoP) is having them for free. I still had to pay the 80 bucks for the test itself but not the school testing fee(paper dsst's only). Will probably do either american gov clep next or world religions dsst.

I am curious about my options, if it turns out that the test did not go well.
At EC, does a fail on a DSST count against the GPA?
If I get a B or a C, can I take it again and try for an A?
I am still waiting for my score. I really have no idea how I actually did, but this will be good information for future reference.
Thanks in advance for your help.

No, the DSSTs are transfer credit, and EC doesn't take any grades lower than "C" in transfer, so it won't go on your EC record. If it does, you should be able to have it removed. You shouldn't have to worry about "F"s on anything except Excelsior's own courses and exams. (ECEs and Uexcels)
Quote:If I get a B or a C, can I take it again and try for an A?
Yes. Just make sure you wait the 180 days to retake it, or your score won't count.

I bet you both passed.
