What discount does the TESU Study.com partnership bring?
#11
I am trying to figure out how to sign up for the study.com discount. I am also having a heck of a time registering for the capstone via TESU. I am used to simply applying for admission and picking classes. It does not seem that taking ONE class at TESU is that simple. What am I missing?

I spoke with an advisor today that explained I will need to pay $2500 for the out of state fees. I would love to have that discounted in ANY way possible.

I'm confused, signing up for the Capstone is that easy. You apply and once you're accepted, then you can register for the course. The easiest way to get the study.com discount is to check that box on the application, otherwise call in and request it be added.

The advisor expressed himself badly. That $2500 is the residency waiver and it's the same for in state and out. It's discounted to $1800 by the study.com discount. Your Capstone should be discounted to $1098 from $1497.

I found the code at TESU and sent an email to study.com regarding converting my existing account to a partnered account. As my name says, FINGERS CROSSED!

1) You get a waiver for the Cornerstone course (normally $300)

For the Per Credit Tuition Plan:
2) You get a discount on any courses you want to take at TESU, at minimum you'll need the Capstone ($1098 instead of $1497)
3) You get a discount on the Residency Waiver Fee ($1,800 instead of $2,500)
So a $1,400 savings

For the Comprehensive Tuition Plan, where you get up to 36cr in a single year for $6,350
4) Current price in-state is currently $7,300, so a $950 discount
5) Current price for out-of-state is $9,820, so a $3,470 discount

If you wanted to get a degree that is simple like a BALS or BSBA, where there are lots of inexpensive options for the courses you need/want to take, then you should do the Per-Credit plan.  If you want to get a specific degree where the courses are going to be much more expensive, then you may want to consider the Comprehensive plan.

For the Per-Credit plan, you pay the residency waiver fee because you're taking fewer than 16cr at TESU.  For the Comprehensive plan, there is no residency waiver fee (it's included in the cost).

Also, the current Study.com membership ends 6/30/18, and we don't know what any new discounts will be - but you should assume that they're going to be a LOT less.

Does this mean if I don't graduate by June 30th, 2018, then I lose the discount? I signed up for the Study.com-TESU membership; but I definitely will not be able to finish any degree by June 3th.

You don't have to graduate by the 30th, but you have to register for the capstone (either July or August term) and pay the Residency Waiver by that date.

So, using the spreadsheet I just posted to the other thread, you could start on your courses, register by June 30th for the August term, and continue taking Study.com courses until the term starts.  If you were smart and took overlapping courses, I'd bet you'd be done by then with everything.  Not even kidding.
