Extension School just doesn't sound right IMO. I think these elite B&M elite schools should go towards flex programs instead and stop grifting like this (Not that it will happen though). At least put the real name of the school on the degree...

It doesn't say so on that page, but I suspect that the conferred degree wouldn't even be "Software Engineering". It'd be a Masters of Liberal Arts in Extension Studies and then the transcript would say Concentration in Software Engineering or however they put it.

Yes I agree with the consensus on the Harvard degree. The Penn program Doesn’t sound like a bad deal though. I know it’s not Georgia tech or UT @ $10k but I’m assuming each program only has so many seats. A person should apply to several programs and see which ones they get into. The question should be is the $26k penn degree worth it over a Unranked $10k Degree program ? We know the $10k UT and Tech degrees are awesome programs and deals.

Also transfer in two courses (the maximum allowed) to Penn. Save around $3K.

Penn does not teach the "real" CS, but GT and UT are. Penn teaches only entry-level IT knowledge. So I think the GT and UT are more worth than the Penn. UPenn Rank #8 Georgia Tech Rank #35 UT Austin Rank #42

Yes. I think most are in agreement that UT and Georgia tech are the two best bang for your buck programs.

I think $25k is a great price for an ivy league master's, but asianphd is absolutely right -- if you want to learn CS, the MCIT is the wrong degree for you as it's a completely different field (and tailored to those people not already experienced in the field)

Georgia Tech #8 UT Austin #10 UPenn #19 Engineering Georgia Tech #8 UT Austin #12 UPenn #18 Computer Engineering Georgia Tech #5 UT Austin #8 UPenn Rank too low to publish With that said, I heard the MCIT graduates do well, and I think it's a great program for those without a qualifying undergraduate degree. The $26k price tag isn't too bad.
