I'm working on it.
The spam purging tool doesn't work once someone has posted enough to appear as a legitimate user.
So I either have to manually delete hundreds of posts and multiple accounts or wait for the admin to change the post limit so I can use the anti-spam tool to do it automatically. I've sent him a note but it sometimes takes a while before he responds so I will probably have to just delete them manually.
They should all be gone now. I ended up banning the spam accounts and deleting all those spam threads manually. By the time I finished, more than 450 posts had been deleted, so it took a while.
You can return to reading and responding to off-topic posts again.

Appreciate it! Man, is there a way to limit the number of new threads a new account can post in its first day? Or implement more controls to dissuade spammers from joining in the first place?

Upon reflection, I agree I was too quick to praise Merlin and am now disappointed that he didn't use magic, the jerk.

We're looking into options to get ahead of spambots in the future. Mybb appears to have limited anti-spammer features, so for now, the admin has limited the number of posts for regular users to a max of 20 per day. Unfortunately, that change also affects regular forum members as well. I know there are some folks on the board who post that much per day, but this is a good stop-gap measure until a better long-term solution is found.

Bah, using magic is too easy. What is life without a little challenge now and then?
