Is Ryan Swayt's Degree hacking course worth 1k?

This plan is soooo outdated. $20 to transfer each Sophia class? They haven't done that since before the pandemic started in March 2020. Such old outdated info.

If you don't like UMPI's degree (it's not Lit heavy, which many prefer), then I can see going the TESU way instead - but even then, you could do it for $4800 plus the cost of courses at Sophia, SDC and Coopersmith.  A lot less than $8k for sure.

I just took another look at that site. The worst part, IMO, is that literally nothing has a date on it. I can make a good guess about just how outdated everything is, but the average person who stumbles on that site won't realize just how bad it is. Heck, we still occasionally get students who have stumbled on BAin4Weeks and want to follow that (10-15 years out of date) plan. Which no longer works at all.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

Yes, even using Study.com, which is more expensive, I finished my degree at UMPI for something like $4,250 (or $5,000 if you count the expense of prior CC credits). Started taking classes September '21 and had the degree finished in May '22, which just happens to be < 9 months.

Note: Don't sign up for Ryan Swayt's newsletters, you would think they'll just send out one a week or something... Nope, they send one daily, informing you of 'reasons' why you should get their help. Um, no... I already know more than what they 'teach'... I'm also marking their email as 'junk'.

Moreover, their lengthy info video touches up on a topic that may have 'killed' his service, he mentioned outsourcing your work! OMG... That's worse than using ChatGPT to get some ideas, or learn how to create a content, guide, get ideas, whatever... that's completely getting people to do the work for you!

It is standard for a sales newsletter to be daily for 7 days. By law, there's an opt-out link in the newsletter. I do agree that those newsletters are often annoying and shady.

I did see the 54-minute video, which I skimmed through in about 10 minutes.

Basically:
  • He attended WGU.

  • He graduated in 2 terms (not particularly fast).

  • He paid $6,000 for the degree (after the Pell Grant, etc. the out-of-pocket cost was $200).

  • He showed a bit of what you get inside the membership website.
It seems to be specially geared towards WGU students, as that is what he seems to know the most about. Then there are a bunch of generalized productivity tips, essay suggestions, and other basic student-related advice.

The idea of hiring a VA to take care of notes and flashcards is peculiar. This would likely violate student policies at many colleges.

Definitely not worth $997.

Outsourcing your work is a great way to be permanently expelled which would make it difficult to continue your degree elsewhere. Getting a degree does take some work folks. It's not a participation trophy.

If we get enough people to pay $1k for a degree hacking plan I'd be willing to start a non-profit service to get us ACE credit for some of those courses that none of the providers have yet.

It costs MANY thousands of dollars, which is why there aren't MORE providers out there.  It's a very expensive proposition - just ask InstantCert about it.  They provided some great courses, but it didn't last very long (a couple of years max).  Too expensive.

What courses are you referring to? I was thinking along the lines of having DEAC/NA accreditation for courses in addition to ACE or NCCRS, so think of it as similar to Genesis University or Penn Foster, but having courses as inexpensive as possible.

I met with Ryan Swayt and am debating using his program.  I plan on enrolling in WGU with next to no transfer credits and am hoping to graduate with a Bachelors in Business in less than one year with allocating about 20 hrs a week to school.  Can this be done?  Is anyone familiar with details specifically on how at WGU?
