Aleks - Business Statistics - Excelsior
#1
My friend reminded me how important it is to give back to the forums, when I've benefited from the data of others. Business Statistics is the last course I needed to get for my BS to be earned I just got my 70%+ score tonight. Specifically, I got a 72% so I thought I'd write up some information:

1) I've gotten Excelsior to accept Aleks Business Statistics as an upper level math course. I've requested my transcript sent to ACE, which will then get to Excelsior....so I've not gotten the 'in hand' response but we'll see what happens. Excelsior has committed it will be 3 upper level. (There is another thread posted under this userID that talks about the argument formation for this to occur)

2) I 'mastered' 99 of the 137 topics. My original plan was to learn 100 topics....but I just got too excited to begin repeating my assessments. I assessed yesterday against my will Smile and got 64%. Today, I got to 99 and took a chance....I got 69%. I figured being so close, I would just look at the results from my previous assessment and learn where I was weak. Once I did that, I requested my last assessment. Which brings me to my next point.

3) In the master account there is a 'suggestion' box. Request to see more detail in your assessments. Then for each assessment you'll be able to see what you answered, and what the correct answer was. This was massively helpful, as I only needed to repeat assess twice. Also related to the suggestion box: Due to my particular situation, I had two accounts going....one didn't need assessments so I had Aleks turn off auto-assessments off on that account.

4) Excel is your friend. In your student account, under 'Options' (upper right) you will notice a check box for "Excel supplement for Business Statistics". Check that.....things are provided to you that will help. On my own, I made notes for myself in excel...common formulas and things of that nature, that would eliminate silly math errors.

Those are the things I've learned from my experience from Aleks. I hope it helps.

Nice post. I finished this class a few days ago as well. If you wouldn't mind, please let me in on the argument about the upper level credit, as I'm enrolled at Excelsior and I thought it would be UL. I didn't even realize that Excel was an option on the ALEKS site, and I created a huge spreadsheet with all the formulas and problems. So, if anyone else wants this, here it is, but you'll have to kind of sort out which problem is which. Note that all three pages in Excel have different formulas.

That's pretty sweet that the appeals work. Are you using it towards a business degree or one of the other EC degrees?
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

I've discussed with them a great many things that I felt were not accurate or fair.
I'll be getting a BSL....which is the quickest degree I could get given the credits I was transferring in. I was more interested in getting the BS done so I could go on towards my MBA in a more traditional manner.
