Intro to Psych vs. Intro to Ed Psych?
#1
Just curious if anyone knows if Ed phychology is counted as applied pro at Excelsior? I need 1 more Clep for all LL and I know Intro phy would satisfy it but would rather take Intro Ed phy. (I can't take intro Ed if its applied pro)
I know its better to check with Excelsior first but I get a responce back much faster from you guys. (Still waiting on Excelsior from other queries since Friday)

Thanks.

(I have already taken the intro soc, HG&D)

Hi MagicATC,

Both CLEP 'Intro to Psychology' and CLEP 'Intro to Educational Psychology' count as LL Social Science credit. So you should be good to go with either of those exams. Just make sure they don't overlap with anything you have taken previously.

As always, your advisor has the final say!

Good luck,

MagicATC,

FYI, I felt that Intro to Psych was somewhat easier than Ed Psych. The questions on the Intro to Psych exam were far less probing, because it covers several psychological topics. The questions on the Ed Psych exam, on the other hand, went deeper because it focuses entirely on one specific psychological topic.

Neither exams are difficult to pass though, as long as you study for them.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Best of luck,

Snazzlefrag,

Thanks for the input. I was figuring Intro to Ed for the overlap of HG&D I took friday. Do you think it overlaps Intro Phy better? I am in the time crunch mode to finish as fast as I can. (I am hitting this CLEP thing full time) Of course they both seem pretty easy to grasp either way.

By the way, how many days do you think the average person get through Drug & Alcohol DSST with 8 hours a day of studying? (becoming addicted..need supportBig Grin )

1 more LL then 21 UL to go!

MagicATC,

You're right, there is some overlap. In fact, I took CLEP Intro to Educational Psychology AND DANTES Lifespan Development Psychology (it's the same as CLEP HG&D) on the same day...last Friday.

But both the Intro to Psych, and Intro to Ed Psych were easy enough to pass even without studying HG&D first. Just take your pick, because you ARE going to pass whichever one you decide to do. Wink

Come on now! You KNOW I'm not going to put a number on how many days it takes to study for D&A Abuse.
:p

It is different for everybody. The only thing I can tell you is to study until YOU feel ready. It might be one day, it might be five days, or it might be two weeks.

I found D&A Abuse to be a thorough exam. It's not the hardest, but it's not the easiest either. So adjust your study time appropriately.

Best of luck,
