Intro to LE or Criminal Justice 1st?
#1
I have read the specific feedback fourms of each of these tests and there is conflicting feedback as to which is harder and which to take first. Some of the postings are also quite old. Can anyone who has taken these recently give me any feedback. I am reading Cliffs Quick Review and using IC so I will be prepared for both but this week I am looking to take the "easier" one to get a pass and then go back and take the one that may be a little more intense. These are 3 credits that stand betweeen my gown and tassle. Graduation application deadline is this Friday and I need 3 more credits to quailify so I gotta be real smart about this one....no pressure right! Either way I am taking both tests but I need to know which one is real basic and I should take 1st?

Any feedback is appreciated. So far the Cliff Notes R-O-C-K!

I took the Intro to Law Enforcement/ Crim. Justice DSST in mid Feb. 2009 and it was actually pretty easy. I took it cold and it really wasn't that hard. Know the amendments, most of the test is common sense, wiki law enforcement for a quick rundown of important people, dates, etc. Overall it wasn't too bad if you use the instacert flash cards and look over amendments and some important supreme court rulings you will do just fine.

Did you find one test "easier" or more basic than the other?

I didn't take LE since it didn't count toward my degree, but I did take CJ, and I found it very doable with the use of the free online sparksnotes. I don't remember exactly, but I think a couple afternoons is how long it took me to absorb it all.

Good Luck!

I am going to keep on reading Cliff Notes today and taking the practice tests from a text link that swisha2k posted that is very helpful. I need these credits as electives so I just need a pass! Chuggin away....Thanks for the feedback

Well guys I narrowed it down basically by a coin flip. I read all the posts that I could and it seemed like a tie on which test was more "basic" so I just took a leap. The test was not that bad and the feedback was right on point. I would say that I mostly used the cliff notes since I could carry the book around with me for the ease factor. I agree that this was my best resource. I did go thru the IC cards once just to see what they contained but honestly everything was in the book to get a pass......I am going to take CJ next week so I can bank another 3 credits.

Thanks for all the advice and support guys I could not have done this without you...or at least gotten the confidence....so far I am 2 for 2 on these DSST's! I applied for graduation so I'll let ya'll know if my request gets approved, I still need 6 more credits.

Not the best score but its a pass.....59!!!!

Okay guys I have done as many others before me and took criminal justice today. Since I had already taken Law Enforcement 10 days ago it was still pretty fresh but I spent the night brushing up with the Cliff notes and the morning going thru IC. Overall now that I have taken both I would say that CE is more basic...and LE there was a lot more memorization or focal points involved. Neither test was "hard" but I would not suggest just running in without any studying if you want to guarantee a pass. The feedback forums were dead on but I would say Cliff Notes was the best tool for both of these tests.
Thanks to all who suggested studying 1 material for 2 tests, it brought me 6 credits closer to graduation!

LE-59
Criminal Justice-422

By the way an update to my first post on 4/5 I met the graduation deadline, cap and gown is ordered, and I will be coasting the stage on June 7th, 2009!

Good job, I just ordered my Cliffnotes book prior to logging on tonight. I have to pass this next test since I also feel it is probably one of the easier ones out there.
