Intro to Comparative Politics TECEP question
#1
Under TESC's updated Gen. Ed. plan, the Intro to Comparative Politics TECEP counts for the Diversity requirement, but I'm wondering if it could be used to fulfill the Civic Engagement instead. Has anyone used this TECEP for that area yet?

Thanks in advance.

They are very specific about what can be used where. No, this TECEP can't be used to fulfill Civic Engagement. The American Government CLEP can though.

Thanks. I had a feeling that would be the case and that's a bummer. Wish there was a TECEP to fill that requirement.

It would be nice if they had more TECEP's, especially ones to fulfill their specific requirements. And more UL in other areas besides Business (as a business major I'm not complaining about the plethora of UL business TECEP's though!).

Well, if you have trouble with it, you can always try taking the Saylor final exam for $25 - their comparative politics class is ACE evaluated, and transfers in as the same class as the TECEP exam.

The Saylor course IS the way to study for the TECEP - it says it right there in the TECEP Test Description. I would take the course, finish up with the unproctored final to see how it goes, then take the TECEP. I would imagine the TECEP and Saylor Proctored final may even be the exact same test.

For an extra $86, you get the credits plus 3 residency requirements out of the way. Totally worth it!

I'm taking Intro to Political Science TECEP next week after having taken American Government CLEP a few weeks ago. I'm hoping they overlap a bit because I haven't studied much and I need some TECEPS!

The Intro to Comparative Politics *does* count for the Civic Engagement requirement now. Intro to Political Science doesn't, but Comparative Politics does. That's where it's currently at in my degree plan. It's on the 2016 and after list - Thomas Edison State University | General Education - 2016 or After
