Beyond the big 3
#1
Hey everyone, I know there is another website that is more geared towards post-bachelor's distance learning. I'm not sure if someone already suggested this, but I thought it would be really helpful if a new forum category was created. We can call it "BEYOND THE BIG 3" or "Beyond your Bachelors" and we can dump all the post bachelors questions that we see on here. I know this site is sponsored by InstantCert and they don't really have any financial incentive in post bachelors, but keeping their most knowledgable bachelors students engaged with the site "post big-3" will only bring in more "google" traffic and increase possible leads.

Let me know your thoughts.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

2 thumbs up.

Think it's a great idea. There seems to be quite a few, post bachelors threads accumulating.

I think this is a great idea. I still have quite a way to go before I get to this point, but I'm already thinking about. It would be a great resource on the site. I'd love to see specifics on some of the grad school options. The Big Three tend to be expensive when it comes to their grad degrees, because you run out of "test-out" options and taking courses through the Big Three is expensive. On the other hand, there are some great bargains out there, and even Harvard provides a mostly online option to earning a Masters that is reasonably priced. Stanford and Columbia have online options too, but they are a lot more expensive. It would be nice to have a forum devoted to this kind of information. Lastly, InstantCert could put together a GRE review and drills to take advantage of this market (they could do ones for the LSAT, GMAT, and MCAT too).

One more thing, not to hijack the thread, but they really should have a Homeschool sub-forum as well. There are a ton of posts by homeschoolers looking for information on testing out of classes. There are at least as many homeschoolers as there are military posters, and they have their own sub-forum. It would be great if we had a Homeschool sub-forum that covered information such as how to handle transcripts, and how to handle class rank, and GPAs, and financial aid, and scholarships, getting into top schools, etc. As prloko said in regards to the grad degree sub-forum, it could bring a lot more traffic to this website.

I love this idea! It is interesting timing, too, because I have been starting to consider how to make a graceful exit. I have been concerned that I won't have time to participate here during graduate school. (I completely understand when members have to move on after completing their degrees. I am amazed and grateful for the members who have made the commitment to stay and provide such helpful guidance.) This could make me reconsider, when I see how the time issue works out. It would be great to continue to grow with this supportive community.

P.S. I'd also love to see an active thread about the General GRE, since I need to take it soon.

I completely agree with this. I have no stats to back this up, but I would wager there are probably more homeschoolers participating/trolling than military. A homeschool forum would probably receive a lot of hits. Both of these new categories will most likely clean-up the other categories and make it easier to find/post relevent info.

I'd love to see a homeschool forum. My 17 year old son is working on completing NMJC credits, SL courses and planning CLEPs as a JR this year and next.

My 14 year old is getting very curious about completing some college courses and finishing his schooling at home.
