Information Systems and Computer Applications Test

It's not all about memorizing IC. It's all about knowing the subject.

It's also not about putting all your eggs into one basket. You should supplement your study resources.

I passed this exam with a 64 today. It really made me think and there were a few items in the exam that the IC Flashcards did not seem to cover at all. I studied for this exam using only the IC flashcards and the MIS flashcards and it was more than enough. My experience with programming coursework proved to be quite helpful with some of the questions. If you have had no experience with computers, then I agree with Tasman... supplement your studies with study resources. But if you are computer literate, and understand basic "If-then" statements in relation to programming code, the IC flashcards should be more than enough.

Best of luck to all of you. It's a doable exam. I studied the flashcards for 2 days and passed with relative ease. So can you!

The original poster is not the first person to say recently that the IC flashcards are not totally representative of the actual content covered on the exam. Many people have recommended using the MIS flashcards also.

I did not think I would have enough time to receive the newest Official CLEP Guide in the mail before I take this exam, so I decided to order the downloadable version to check the sample questions ($10).

(I was mistaken and thought I had the 2008 guide, but I actually have the 2009 guide.)

In the 2010 guide, the content and breakdown of the exam has been changed and rearranged. (CLEP: Information Systems and Computer Applications) 21 sample questions have been added for a total of 70 questions. Others have been revised or removed. The rest are the same.

I am glad to see that people have still been passing even though changes have been made to this exam.

As you can tell from my previous post, I was concerned about the recent changes made to this CLEP exam.

I have been studying for all 3 computer exams at the same time. (Intro to Computing DSST, Information Systems & Computer Applications CLEP, Management Information Systems DSST)

For the CLEP, having studied for 4 weeks and taken the Intro DSST first really helped. I also started studying for the MIS DSST by taking notes on the MIS flashcards and that was helpful for the CLEP exam. With all of this studying plus materials for the CLEP, the CLEP exam was easier than I expected and I scored a 76.

I posted my feedback for all 3 exams here (scroll down past College Math CLEP):

I am an average home computer user and had a lot to learn. Again, having prepared for the Intro DSST exam and taken notes on the MIS flashcards were important parts of doing well on this CLEP exam.
