Please help me with my Degree Plan- TESC BSBA Gen Mgt
#1
I have been doing lots of research both here and its sister forum. The information I have got on both degreeforum and degreeinfo have been of immense benefit to me. I have put up a degree plan based on some of the credits I have earned at my home university, Obafemi Awolowo University-Ile-Ife, Aleks, and Penn Foster College. I would appreciate if someone could help me take a look into my degree plan and recommend some courses to fill some of the holes I have left. The courses with YES next to them are the ones I have got credit for while the NOT YET indicates I am yet to get credit for them.

Under Professional Business Requirements, does anyone know whether Law of Contract can fulfill the Business Law requirement and whether SL's Intro to Business fulfills requirements for Business in Society? I am wondering whether any of these: Computer Applications(3) or CSC 105--Introduction to Programming(3) from Penn foster fulfills the Computer Concepts and Applications/Introduction to Computers/CIS requirement. For the Intro to Marketing requirement, would Internet Marketing and E-Commerce from Penn Foster (3) be good?

Thank you so much in advance for all your help.

First, take a look at this degree plan.
Sanantone's BSBA General Management - Degree Forum Wiki

Are you trying to avoid tests? I see that you've chosen just Straighternline and Penn Foster courses along ALEKS. You can also test out of most of these requirements with DSST, TECEP, CLEP, and Uexcel ECEP.

Intro to Business will not count for Business in Society. You can either take the Business Ethics in Society DSST or find an International Business course somewhere. I thought Penn Foster had one. By the way, always check to see that the Penn Foster courses are currently ACE-approved. TESC will not accept them without ACE approval. For computer applications, I'm not sure about intro to programming being acceptable. It's best to ask after you enroll at TESC. For marketing, TESC will probably only accept Intro to Marketing or Principles of Marketing. I'm not even sure the Penn Foster course you listed is currently ACE-approved.

Thank you Sanatone for your response and the link. I am not trying to avoid test. Smile I have asked on degreeinfo (and even written to College Board) about possible test centers here in Slovakia but none is available. Since I am not based in the US, I couldn't even get a sponsor for the FEMA credits then. I will gladly test out the remaining exams if I was able to find a center in Austria, Slovakia, or Czech Republic. The nearest centers to me seems to be the ones in England, Germany... which would cost me a lot when I calculate costs of travel, lodging, center fees, and so on. Thanks for reminding me about Uexcel. I am considering Uexcel since they have a Perason center here in Slovakia and neighboring Austria. For Tecep, I am still to find out if they have a center here for the exams. I will start thinking about possible marketing tests then since it is likely TESC would not accept what I have. For the TESC Computer Concepts and Applications/Introduction to Computers/CIS requirement, I listed two computer courses -1) Computer Applications(3) and 2) CSC 105--Introduction to Programming(3). Since you said you are not sure about Intro to Programming, would the Penn Foster Computer Application course do? I have credit in this too. Thanks

For the TECEP, you just need to find an acceptable proctor. This can be at a college/university or library in most cases. There are no testing centers for TECEPs. Did you look to see if there are Pearson Testing centers for Uexcel ECEPs? Is the computer application course 2 credits or 3 credits? I forgot and am too lazy to look it up.

The Computer Application course is 3 credit. From the ACE website, it reads: ''In the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in computer information systems or information technology (11/12).'' May I ask you please, that if you were to choose (assuming they both offer the same subjects you need) between TECEP and Uexecel exams, which would you go for? I should visit the library here in Slovakia to ask if they are willing to serve as my proctor. That is if I get an English speaking Librarian or Library chief. Smile I am still new to testing and every day, I find out something I never knew about even though I have been lurking around degreeinfo for about a year plus now. You have re-boosted my energy such that now I have begun studying for testing. Smile
