I'm done with the Spring term (although it hasn't officially ended I've submitted everything). I start my Capstone in 15 days. I've read the syllabus numerous times and still have no clue on what to base my project. I'd like to have a head start (in my head at least) about what I will do. This Capstone has no textbooks to purchase. I can ask her for sample papers (and I will) but I still have the burden of coming up with a unique idea for my Capstone.
Does anyone care to suggest any ideas?

i would use a social issue/problem, or a case from work, that you are truly passionate about. That makes all the research that goes into such a project much more interesting and the writing less painful. As in your profession, there is a ton of repetition in research writing.
One of my largest (legal) pet peeves has always been the issue of microsoft's legal, ethical and social behaviors. In my opinion, that company gives the label 'white collar crime' a category of its own.

Hmmmm.......
Maybe a presentation about the your field for high school students (like a career day thing). Then, you wouldn't have to do too much in depth research.

How about a brief on the presumption of guilt with .08 BACs? Why is that legal? Some habitual drunks could probably drive better than I were they to be at 0.3 and I to be a 0.03.
Maybe something on the history of some legal topic, such as Lincoln's doing away with habeus (spelling) corpus, or how lawyers built up cases to eventually support Brown versus Board of Education. Or something on the history of the Second Amendment. The law is a fascinating topic. You might just want to find some way to support a position that is presently not the law, but, if there's a wave building, might become law. I gotta say that all of this government monitoring of stuff gives me the jitters. Is there a crack (using it to "discover" terrorists) that might open wider for the government to use it against those not terrorists, but possibly contemplating criminal activity? Maybe something on legal ethics. Oh, I know. How about something doing with TV and the law? Something about ethics, or something where there is behavior that attorneys don't engage in. (I L-O-V-E-D Law and Order, but really? All that ex parte communication with the judges was crazy.)
I don't know if this is what they're looking for or not, but I'm giving my $.02.

I don't think this is paralegal related, but I am doing my Eng. 102 paper on the merits of prison education. It's really more of a Criminal Justice topic, but sometimes crazy ideas can push you in the direction you want to go.

Great ideas. Thank you. Keep them coming. I was thinking about a topic on human trafficking but cannot figure out how to tie that into paralegal studies.

Are the victims of human trafficking considered illegal immigrants? If so, are they treated like criminals by Immigration and Customs Enforcement? What protections do they have if they are guilty of a crime committed out of fear?
If a teen is forced into prostitution, is she guilty of a crime?
I have very little knowledge of the legal system and even less knowledge of what a paralegal does, but I figured it was worth a try.
