I forgot I had gotten a D in a class. Does taking it at TESC replace grade?
#1
Sadly, years ago, I was lazy and got a D in Photography 101. It was sent in my evaluation and it is bringing my GPA down to a 3.1. I only have two other graded courses. If I took this course at TESC would their credit supersede my evaluated credit?

Speaking to an advisor this week.

Thanks.

The short answer, yes it would replace the D but why bother. You can use your hard earned dollars to take a course at TESC that would interest you as well as earn institutional credit.

TESC will record the photography grade on your academic evaluation but not on your official transcript. On the TESC transcript, the course will fall under transferred credit with description and credits awarded but no grade is listed. If you plan to graduate from TESC that course/grade will not factor into the final GPA. TESC only uses its own courses, institutional credit, for the GPA.

The good news? That course will count under general education electives. So that's three less credits you'll have to earn.

Edit: Check your private messages, I sent you the pics of the transcript.

There is no point in retaking the course at TESC. It won't factor into your TESC GPA if you're worried about it for internship and employment purposes. TESC only calculates a GPA using transfer courses on your evaluation for quality control purposes. If you're going to one of those rare graduate schools that only look at the GPA of where you earned your undergraduate degree, it still won't matter since TESC won't include the photography course in your official TESC GPA. However, most graduate schools will require transcripts from every college attended and will calculate your GPA based upon that. The only way to replace a bad grade is to retake the course at the original school if they will allow it. Retaking the course at TESC will not make the previous photography course disappear.

I was unaware of how the GPA factored in. Awesome. Thank you for the information.
