Humanities FEMA credit?
#1
So I'm thinking of going to TESC and the unofficial eval i got shows that i will probably be short 1 Humanities Gen Ed credit

But i heard one of the FEMAs could count towards a Humanities credit and i'm not sure which one it is.

Is it Effective Communication?

Also, I haven't taken any femas - if you know how, could you please walk me through the general process?

The effective communication FEMA did not apply as a humanities on my TESC transcript. I doubt any of the FEMA courses will.

I would recommend the Technical Writing DSST. TESC counts that as a Humanity according to their catalog. I took it and it is pretty simple. Easier than the Freshman Composition CLEP I took.

As we say in the Navy - easy day!

what do the Fema classes get applied to? I have a list from TESC showing which one's they will accept, however, I do not know how they are applied. I am assuming electives but which ones?

Anyone guidance would be appreciated. thanks

For the most part free electives.

I heard there are one or two (and a few NFAs too) that can be gen. ed electives but I don't think they would count as humanity. You could always call TESC.
I agree with blu2blu, Technical writing was pretty easy even with NO BUSINESS EXPERIENCE. If you've had any it should be a complete cinch.

Homeland Security

•Critical Thinking for Homeland Security (HLS-355)
•Counter-Terrorism: Constitutional and Legislative Issues (HLS-410)
•Homeland Security: Preparedness, Prevention and Deterrence (HLS-420)
•Protecting the Homeland —Response and Deterrence (HLS-429)

I found these under Social Science Electives at TESC. Not sure if any of the Fema cover this. I have not looked into NFA

I am taking the Critical Thinking for Homeland Security course right now and it's pretty simple. The classes in your list are all 300+ level there is no way any of the FEMAs are on that level.

Do some forum searching about FEMA and TESC. FEMAs only apply as FREE ELECTIVES and you can only use 25 (maybe more maybe less I cant remember). If you want to use them as part of the core degree requirements you have to be pursuing the BS in Homeland Security. The major requires 33 credits, 15 of which are Homeland Security Electives and all 15 can be FEMA.

If you pursue the homeland security degree you can test out of all general ed reqs, do FEMA and more testing for free electives, then do 15 femas for core electives leaving only six classes for you to take online.
