Your degree seems to not matter as much longer term. Sometimes there could be a specific requirement but at some point, we often end up in a management role. My experience, and ability to have references from people who know, and understand my accomplishments do matter. Once you have 20-30 years of work experience you're going to move up the ladder if you make an effort and keep learning. Now sometimes an MBA will help but I make more money than most with that degree so for me it falls back to experience.
