A Little Chuckle for Me, A Nightmare for Someone..
#1
I just found out about "rottenneighbor.com" where neighbors can rant and pinpoint your location. I found a link from CNN, clicked, and actually was satisfied at the quantity/quality of the site.

At first I went to my house, fully knowing I'm not the best neighbor ever. No comments...yet! hilarious Give it a year, I'll be blacklisted by my neighbors for life! :p Naw, most of mine are too busy for that stuff.

But then I read some of the "stories" about my local neighbors - such as chickens...big dogs....bitter old people...some of the stories were so off the wall I couldn't hold it in - I laughed. Of course for those who actually have rotten neighbors, I feel their pain. I used to live in an ordinary neighborhood and the neighbor next door decided a horse could live there for a year or two. Uh, not in suburbia! Not in development subdivisions! Rolleyes No way! Oh boy, I've had my share. We aren't even going to go into the people who mowed their lawn at 3 am next door. Talk about a nuisance!
Wanna share your bad stories here (anoyomously) without pinpointing on a map? (The site forces you, if you decide to complain, to pinpoint your neighbor on GPS)

Whether the site is just neighborly gossip, I'll never know!
But it also has sex offenders pinpointed as well, for free. (Many other sites try to charge or make you sign up for this service). That's probably the only real 'useful' tool of the site.

So...what do you think? Are you on it? Are any of the off the wall stories concerning you in your neighborhood (no specifics on whereabouts, please)? More of a chuckle, More of a nightmare, or More of an Informational resource?

Not really. Pissing in public will land you and your picture on the "Sex Offender" list here in Michigan. I hardly call that fair. I take ANYTHING the .gov publishes with a grain and salt......and promptly throw that gran of salt away.

No posts in my neighborhood, but there should be!!! hilarious Some days I shake my head about my "favorite" neighbor.

It's tempting to gripe about your neighbor to the world, but will outing an existing bad neighbor be the deal breaker for a would-be buyer when you're ready to move on?

If the previous owner of your home was an awful neighbor, will their lingering bad presence, real or imagined, affect your home's value?

The sex offender registry should be qualified to "those convicted who comply with reporting requirements." It includes people convicted under faulty criteria, but it doesn't account for offenders who don't report or get lost in the system, and it doesn't include those who have not been convicted or whose proceedings are pending. I lived in an apartment next door to a man indicted by the grand jury in another county for allegedly molesting teen-age girls. I never learned the outcome, but his presence there negatively affected another family's custody hearing regarding a 7-year-old boy. Whether the man did it or not, another family suffered because the court assumed the man was guilty and acted accordingly.

I thought of that as well, especially since I move a lot, and I live in a home, and sometimes apartments. I really don't want to be stuck with my house when I sell it just because of my neighbors' nudity problem or a peeping tom. Granted, I've moved because of a peeping tom. And I've moved because of other neighborly problems. It's honestly hard to find good neighbors. Out of my whole life I've only had one or two streets that were good neighbors. (Ok, well, the old guy who mows/ed in a blue speedo doesn't count :p )

So, does this site allow for people to go to their own home and erase their "home profiles" ? Or is it stuck there in cyberspace for all to see forever? I hope they purge the system every few years! It does allow for other neighbors to "verify" the information gossipped by commenting, etc, or rating the report accordingly.

Just talking about bad neighbors makes me want to move again. Lucky me I'll be moving in 40 days to a very sex-offender populated place. Sad You would think they wouldn't be so close to a local college, but they are. Incredibly close. I think that public school minimum feet limit should also be applied to colleges. I don't want those creeps within 500 feet of that place!
