For those (like me) who think there's a catch on the Germany's free education or who feel free means "worse," here's a recent BBC feature on Germany's free education and how US students are taking advantage of this.
I think with the cost of educating skyrocketing, it won't be a bad idea to pack one's bag and move to Germany...
"While the cost of college education in the US has reached record highs, Germany has abandoned tuition fees altogether for German and international students alike. An increasing number of Americans are taking advantage and saving tens of thousands of dollars to get their degrees..."

Yeah, but I wonder how well those students are doing. (I've been reading about free college abroad.) Even when the classes are offered in English, I can't help feeling that the students from other countries have had a more stringent (is that the word I'm looking for?) education, and most American students will be hard pressed to keep up.

I saw that article yesterday.
But knew about this earlier this year. Friend from Germany mentioned to me. done a little research into this and I've read that you need a certain amount of money in your bank in order to stay into the country. Also working might be a bit of an issue. I know Germany is not the only country to be able to do this, but is the cheapest.I may check it out so I may do a late October trip to check it out
I talked to a guy from Germany who I met in east Asia and he was saying the issue is a lot of people are flocking there and going to school and then leaving Germany to go back home when they are done.
Although. I wouldn't mind this option. Germans seem pretty cool and I feel like it would be lots of fun. Your masters is also free. Now I wonder how many more people must be applying or thinking about applying now that it is getting media
coverages like this.
Ohh side note anyone near Boston or BWi can get round trip tickets at from under and around 500 round trip.they advertise way less but you gotta play around with it.

Regarding how foreign students fare in Germany, the article seems to suggest that they are not doing bad. Though most US students are studying in English, their advice is that studying German will make life much easier.
I don't think that the media attention Germany's free education will cause any "harm" (for lack of better word) to the country's education system or even cause everyone to flock there. There are other countries where one can get free education- Austria is one of them if you meet certain conditions...

Yeah, I saw on reddit.com a week ago that German student was looking for online Comp. science program in the USA, because it is impossible to get online degree in Germany. And he commented that it is really hard to study there.( requirements are too high.)
