Has anyone taken the History TECEP. Is it difficult? Possible to pass by just using Saylor or do you need to buy a text? If so, which one?

Although I have not taken this exam, I've taken two TECEPs, one relatively easy and one extremely difficult. This is a 100 level exam so it shouldn't be too bad. Test Description: http://www2.tesc.edu/tecep_desc/HIS-126.pdf For TECEPs you should always use the recommended text/ebook to study. If there are multiple texts to choose from, as in this case, I would choose the first on the list. I would recommend you use the test descripton as an outline to build your study guide. Take you time stuydying for the TECEP you have the full semester. Unlike generalized CLEP/DSST exams, TECEPs tend to be very book specific and can get in the weeds so it is best to be prepared. You can then also supplement with Saylor if you so choose. Good luck! Recommended textbooks from the test description: Traditions and Encounters: A Global Perspective on the Past. Jerry H. Bentley and Herbert F. Ziegler. New York: McGraw-Hill The Earth and Its Peoples: A Global History. Richard Bulliet et al. Boston: Wadsworth/Cengage Learning World History: Journeys from Past to Present. Candice L. Goucher and Linda Walton.New York: Routledge Connections: A World History. Edward H. Judge and John W. Langdon.Boston: Pearson "Setting a goal is not the main thing. Thanks for the reply. I have also taken 2 TECEPS. Both were hard but I passed. For one, I only used Saylor and passed. For this History TECEP, the text you recommend is expensive so I'm wondering if I could just make do with Saylor which TESC does say is a good way to prepare. Alternatively, I'm considering Comparative Politics or Introduction to Political Science TECEP's. Which one of these three TECEP's would be easiest?

For TECEPs, especially in this subject where there would not have been changes, you can purchase an older text. I found both editions Vol 2 or the Full Text on amazon for $25 or less. You may be able to find it cheaper on ebay or halfcom. Traditions & Encounters, Volume 2 From 1500 to the Present. (4th Ed,2007) ISBN-13: 978-0073330631 - Pages 640 - begins at $14.95 Complete Version Traditions & Encounters: A Global Perspective on the Past. (4th Ed 2008) ISBN-13: 978-0073406930 - Pages: 1167 - begins at $25.00 But if you should decide to go with intro to political science send me a PM. "Setting a goal is not the main thing.
