History II Question
#1
Has anyone recently taken the History II clep and if so how prepared do you feel you were for the test after studying the instantcert study guide? Are there a lot of questions that are not covered by the study guide and if so what areas should I look into? Thanks in advance.

For US History 2, I used IC, the REA book, Petersons practice exams, and the official CLEP guide - that will cover all of it!

It depends on the person, I mean I guess IC alone would be fine if you are good at just memorizing names and information, but if you need a basis of information I would suggest sparknotes, go through all the years and information then use IC afterwards to help cemete the information in. I honestly don't know how people can just read note cards in certain subjects without establishing a solid foundation first.

Everyone is different, I personally have never just used IC alone and passed a test, I always need to use other methods as well on top of IC.

I took and passed US History 2 about 3 weeks ago (I am guessing). I only use IC to pass my exams, and it has been working out so far.

My thought is that IC will give you what you need to pass. I am not telling you that you will ace the exam with a super high score, but you will have the tools you need to pass the CLEP using IC.

As for US History 2, I would sugggest that you know the information in the IC flashcards really well. You will need to know this information for sure. I would also suggest that you check out the last two sets of flashcards in the US History 1 section. The reason for this is that so many people, including myself, have discovered that a good percentage of this CLEP covers the late 1800's. Franklin D. Roosevelt and his New Deal is also a good place to be solid on.

I got a 56 on this exam, 12 years after high school, with very little memory of historical people or events. I would guess that I spent about 15 hours over a period of two weeks studying for this. I will admit that it was by far the longest in terms of study time, but IC was enough for me to pass it.
