Historical Methods/Historiography Requirement: new requirement as of July 2015 at TESC

I am curious if anyone knows a good way to fulfill the Historical Methods/Historiography requirement since TESC doesn't offer either one of these courses. My cousin asked TESC how she should accomplish this requirement, but since she is not yet enrolled at TESC, they told her they couldn't help her until then. Is there a way to test out of this requirement? Has anyone contacted TESC regarding this?

Thank you for your help!

@Bluebooger,
Thank you!

At over a $1,000 a pop, is there any cheaper alternatives? It's strange that TESC would make this a requirement without offering the course.

BYU Independent Study has a possible class available, but I'm not sure. Would any current TESC student be able to ask about this one?

What state are you in? You can't test out of historigraphy/methods; you will need to take a class. Many states offer online history degrees through the state college system. That should give you the lowest tuition. There also many online masters' degrees in history (geared toward teachers who need masters.) Take an online grad class as a non-degree student so you can get upper level credit. Sam Houston State University in Texas offers online BA and MA in history. For a bachelor's degree, 12 online credits tuition and fees is around $4800, and around $5200 for grad school (spring 2016.) Estimated Cost Per Semester - Admissions - Sam Houston State University

They appear to charge the same rate to residents and non-residents. They have an online publication that describes the classes well and show what is offered online only. Spring 2016 History Classes by SHSU MA History

There is still no known test out at this time but that could change. It can be taken as a semester based course outside TESU and transfered in. It might be available through a self paced course and transferred in. You would want to check with TESU before taking any course. The history degree is not as popular on here.

Fort Hays State University offers a historical methods course, traditional semester online course through the virtual college about $200/credit. AMU/APU offers a research methods in history course, semester based with a new semester beginning each month I believe, about $270/credit.
