Highly-Ranked Colleges or Departments with Online Degrees
#1
I wanted to create a list of highly-ranked schools with online degrees or online degrees housed in highly-ranked departments. The degrees earned online must be the same as the degrees earned on campus and not be designated on the transcript or diploma as being earned in a department with lower standards for non-traditional students.

Some of you might already know about these schools, but we'll have them in one place now. Feel free to add more to the list.

University of Pennsylvania has an online Master of Computer and Information Technology for $26,130. This is the absolute best Ivy League deal I've seen, but you can get a higher-ranked CS degree for less at Georgia Tech. Penn has other distance learning programs, but they require campus visits.

Columbia University has several online degree programs.

https://online.columbia.edu/online-programs/

Harvard University has an online Master of Public Health.

https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/admissions/...demiology/

George Tech has online degrees in computer science, analytics, and cybersecurity that are under $10k. Georgia Tech is ranked #8 in computer science.

https://pe.gatech.edu/degrees

University of Florida offers many online science and engineering degrees. Most of their graduate and undergraduate programs are under $600 per credit hour for out-of-state students. UF is ranked #35 nationally and #8 among public schools. Several of their online programs are housed in their highly-ranked veterinary, pharmacy, life science/agriculture, and criminology departments.

Stanford University offers online science, computer science, statistics, and engineering degrees.

https://online.stanford.edu/programs

Yale University offers an online physician assistant program. Students complete hands-on training in their communities.

Johns Hopkins University is ranked #10 among national universities and is very highly-ranked in the biological sciences, public health, and statistics. They offer many online degree programs.

Do they allow you to complete your degree entirely online like TESU or COSC? I doubt that. I know for a fact that Harvard Extension School is a combination of online and on-campus programs. And Stanford too.

I did not list anything from Harvard Extension because the diploma says Extension Studies making it obvious that you attended the non-traditional campus. I only listed Harvard's MPH because it's exactly the same as the ground program and has competitive admissions standards. Harvard Extension is open entry.

Most of these programs are 100% online. Even the UPenn program is 100% online. You can click the links and look at them. I'm currently in a Master of Science program at UF.

Great post Sanantone.

Sad that some look down on the Harvard Extension School.  It is actually the 7th oldest College within Harvard. It way pre-dates the BIG 3 (1971, 1972, 1973). Wink

The point of this thread is that, if you have the grades and test scores, you can get into a good program despite having to attend school online. There are many schools with open admission.

*Doesn’t look alt credit friendly, but hey that’s a big step in the right direction for an ivy.
