Help steer me down the right path and evaluate my collection of credits
#1
Hi- Long time Lurker, 1st post in forever. I just want to first say thanks to all of the people on this board who research and post such a plethora of information! This forum really rocks!
I am sorry but this is going to be a long post. I want to give as much info as possible. I had a health scare late this Spring and decided to quit the job that was killing me and go to school to get the degree that I never had time for before.

Could you all please do that miracle dissection thing you do and help me figure out the cheapest, best path for my academic future?

I am currently attending at our local CC (It lists COSC as a partner school for what it is worth)
I will list the courses below-3 credits unless noted (the ones with stars are in progress)
ANT-130 Intro to Cultural Anthro/GE*
ENG-101 Freshman Composition/GE*
OCN-110 Oceanography/GE* (4 credits)
TEC-165 Employee and Occ. Safety*
POS-221 AZ. Const. and Government
AJS-101 Intro to Admin of Justice
ANT-100 Intro to Anthropology/GE
MUS-120 Music Appreciation/GE
ORI-102 First Course (1 credit)
HRM-210 Customer Service Management
LGS-107 Introduction to Purchasing
ORI-101 Strategies for Success
SOC-101 Introduction to Sociology/GE

All 3 sets of Cyber Security from TEEX (thanks to this forum)--they are on my ACE transcript

All 3 Q Courses from the NFA (thanks again to this forum)--they are on my ACE transcript

I have completed a bunch of FEMA courses, by the latest lists that I can find on here with TESC I have 17 credits and by COSC I have 20 credits.

I took 2 UEXCEL Exams back when they first came out
PYS-101 & POS-101

If I stay at the local CC- I need Eng 102 - 4 more science credits- 2 semesters worth of FL- 3 credits of Humanities - 6 credits of Writing Intensive Courses and College Math to graduate with just a Associate General Studies.

I have NOT taken a math class yet because back in March when I took the Accuplacer it stuck me in the Beginning Algebra (remedial class) I can retake it again free because it has been past 3 months and I haven't taken the lower class yet. I was thinking about using ALEKS (if nothing else just to refresh my skills)

I do want to get a Bachelor degree also, but my original plan was for the fastest Associates I could land. I am not sure if that is still a good plan.

So what do you think?
TESC? COSC? CC for AA and then on to one of the others? Skip the AA and go straight to the BA? I didn't put Excelsior because of all of the FEMA credits I have, but if someone thinks I missed something there, please let me know.

Thanks for reading and any insights you may offer! Confusedeeya:

Look more closely at the AS in Liberal Arts at EC. (I haven't looked up the latest requirements, and I haven't followed the TEEX conversation in regards to EC.) With just a quick review of your credits, you may be as close as A&I Lit CLEP, capstone, Info Lit, and some math. (I'm ignoring the FEMA credits for this degree.)
AS in 2010 and BS in 2013 at Excelsior College - Transcripts and Costs
MS Biostatistics in 2019 at Texas A&M University - Graduate School

Sharing Credit-by-Exam*
Resources Used - 20+ Exams Passed & General GRE
Practice Tests - Available for CLEP and DSST

Yes it does.

Also, what are the names of the 2 Uexcel exams you took? Based on the catalog numbers, I'd say psychology and political science, but I'm not sure.

I have something drafted up for you, with regards to COSC, but I need to know what those two exams were so I can apply them properly.

Sorry for missing that...
You are correct political science & Psychology.

This is pretty much where you would stand in relation to the General Education for a Bachelor's Degree at COSC. The general education portion is 40 credits.
The catalog states that the associates degree requires only 20 general education credits, but does not go on to specify which credits.

Written Communication (6 credits)
Freshman Composition
Eng-102 (still needed. I'd recommend the CLEP College Composition. It's a 6 credit exam)

Oral Communication (3 credits)
DSST Speech or Any Public Speaking course (still needed...COSC also allows you to waive this requirement if you have significant public speaking experience).

Information Literacy (3 credits)
The COSC Cornerstone course is a requirement for graduation, and also covers this requirement.

Ethical Decision-Making (3 credits)
Any ethics course or exam will meet this requirement. (DSST Ethics in America)

Knowledge Area Requirements

U.S. History/Government (3 credits)
Any US History or American Government exam will cover this requirement. Your Political Science exam will not....it counts towards Social/Behavioral Sciences.

Non-U.S. History or Culture (3 credits)
Examples: art, literature, history, foreign language or religion course, Western Civilization I or II.

Global Understanding (3 credits)
Intro to Cultural Anthropology

Literature and Fine Arts (3 credits)
Music Appreciation

Social/Behavioral Sciences (3 credits)
Anthropology

Mathematics (3 credits)
Any College level Math Course at College Algebra or higher will cover this requirement. Aleks College Algebra would be the cheapest option to meet this requirement.

Natural Sciences (7-8 credits)
This section must include at least one course with a lab.
Oceanography meets this requirement.
You need one additional 3 credit course or exam.
