Help on degree choice/plan
#1
Recently i had my foreign transcripts in Electrical Elect. Engineering evaluated by TESU and 48 SH credits were applicable to a BSAST in Electrical Technology at TESU. But for the reason i'm looking for the quickest degree i can earn and the cheapest cost/means of earning alternative credits, i've opted for BSAST in General Management. But TESU just did the evaluation and told me only 16SH credits from my foreign credits can apply to BSAST in General Management due to my foreign transcripts consists of technical courses. This is heartbroken and i don't know where to continue. I don't really want to waste all my foreign earned credits and also i know it will be expensive to make up the credits if i decide to continue with BSAST in Electrical Technology at TESU. Someone pls advice me. Sad

Do you know if Excelsior would take the foreign credits? They have a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology. They also have a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Technology Management (Electrical Technology). Or BSIT, but I don't know if electrical courses fit that one.

#3
Hey, you have it wrong, it's not the BSAST in General Management, it's BSBA in General Management.
But you have an alternative, keep the BSAST but take the Technical Studies instead! I think it's easier.

I won't know for sure, but copy/paste your evaluation. What else have you done since you got the evaluation?
Did you take some ALEKS and the FREE courses? If not, read the Beginners Guide and the wiki links on my Signature.

Essentially, you can decide between a BSBA General Management with an AS, or a BSAST with an ASBA.
I think the end result would be similar use of your credentials, just have to see what you have to get a clearer picture.

Your other alternatives are the other Big 3 options, plus your competency based degree provider options.

Sorry i was supposed to write BSBA General Management. I don't know if Technical Studies would favor my foreign earned degrees. Yea, i have just completed TEEXS Cyber Security 101, ALEKS Intermediate Algebra and Ethics from The Institutes. I plan to take ALEKS Intro to Stats and the remaining 2 TEEXS courses.

That's my transcripts:

I'd submit the transcripts to Excelsior, if you're interested in using the credits "in the field"...they have an electromech option, and you've got some of that covered. (A purely electrical/electronic program won't utilize your materials work, the tech drawing, anything MechE.) The EETs (both Excelsior and TESU) are ABET accredited, which is helpful (especially depending on where you live/what market for job hunting). They won't be super fast, though...and you've got a fair bit of required math/physics to go.

However, Excelsior's BS in Technology with a concentration in Electromechanical Technologies might be a good fit, and not a lot of math left (requires 12 credits at the level of college algebra and up), no physics requirement...you would be well on your way with this one. Here's a link to a chart at their site:

Excelsior BS Technology

In the Boston area, there are quite a few entry level positions for someone with with electrical and mechanical training - take a look at job postings in your area and see if anything interests you. If not, then just hammering out the TESU BSBA will at least let you check the box for a bachelors degree. What work do you want, eventually?

From the looks of things, it won't really matter which degree you go for, it's a 50/50 coin toss type of choice.
Either degree you go for, the BSBA or the BSAST, you need to complete the general education requirements.
My suggestion: Focus on completing those gen ed credits first, then you can focus on your option - BSBA/BSAST.

The BSBA will require your more basic business education requirements and the AOS (including the capstone)
The BSAST will require lesser courses in total, but will require some technical studies courses that are harder to find.
Cost wise, I haven't taken a look at, but I think it'll be about the same in price, speed wise, the same!

Recommendation: Read through a couple of threads and finish those general education requirements in 3 months.

Use Straighterline for the speed, Study.com for the ease... essentially all you need for your degree... (Davar/Saylor too)
Alternatively, you can take a look at Excelsior College and WGU as well. They have programs that may take more of your credits.
However, the same goes with them, they require the same General Education Requirements, FINISH THEM FIRST!

For TESU, the main problem you have is that you don't have any of the UL requirements for the BSAST, and no real way to get them inexpensively. The other problem you have is that you're only getting 1.5cr for each course, which means that you're going to have to take an additional course just to get credit. They won't give you a waiver for Stats being 1.5cr, so you're going to have to take another stats course. And, with stats courses all counting as STA-201, you're just replacing those credits.

So, for the BSAST, it's just not a good option. Not even if you switched to the BSAST in Tech Studies. This is really not an option for you at all.

For the BSBA, you're going to have the same issues. I show that maybe 15cr will count towards your degree. This is still an option though, but you just have to be aware of the fact that you're starting basically from scratch. But, the good news is that you can test out of the entire degree except the capstone.

My advice would be to apply at COSC and EC and see what they do with your credits. They treat courses differently than TESU, and you may get a better outcome at one of them.

The main issue there is also going to be how to get your credits inexpensively. The degrees you're interested in all have that same problem, except the BSBA.

TESU filled up my complete AOS in technical studies with community college credits, both UL and LL. So, never hurts to ask.

That's not the route I'm going, but that was at one time, and, I'm guessing, since I had 48 credits in one technical field, they said "close enough" and fulfilled the entire AOS.
We are all on the same side here, trying to better our lives....so let's get along and help each other out.

Learn a trade. Gain technical skills. Make money, then use this money to get a degree...if you have the desire.

They already did the eval, and didn't do that for the OP. So I'm guessing they're not going to change their mind on that.

They did for me after I talked to them, though I think it was a coincidence because 1 advisor said it wouldnt cover UL. One other member had the same thing happen. If not....then forget about the technical studies option!

Fwiw, COSC did not do that, but advised me to do a portfolio assesment to cover the UL portion. I did not. (Technology studies concrntration).
