Help course of action - TESU or COSC
#1
Hi All,

I've applied to both TESU and COSC in early January; currently waiting for my transcripts to be evaluated with ECE as I'm Canadian and this was a requirement for international students.

I was initially interested in getting a BSBA with a concentration in Project Management with COSC but it looks like TESU might be a better choice as I'm thinking of using PLA to receive some credits. I'm looking at a BSBA in Operations Management or Finance but ultimately I'm fine with General Management. I just really want to finish my degree by the end of summer if not earlier

I currently have a stable government job as a Research Analyst but not having a degree has slowed down my career progress and has made me slightly insecure. Most Canadian universities are inflexible with transfers (the university I attended after college would not take any of my college credits) and CLEP is almost unheard of here. I was a decent student in high school but my ADHD (diagnosed a few years ago) made my post-secondary education suffer.

I'm antsy to get started—can I get some recommendations on what courses I can start right now? I was thinking of taking Macroeconomics with Davar to start off. I wanted to take Straighterline courses but hate the fact that I have to purchase books—am I being ridiculous?

Took the Institutes Ethics (85%) course last month to kick things off.

My three transcripts:

As one who's used it, I think that the PLA process is a bit harder and more time consuming than most of the testing options available. I would probably just test out of everything, which is certainly possible at the Big3.

For TESU, it might not be the best choice just because there's nowhere for some of these courses to fit into the degree plan. More of them may fit into a COSC degree, although it's only 9cr, so maybe not important.

But, here is a quick breakdown of what TESU may do with your credits.

Either way, you could easily take a lot of your Gen Eds and core business requirements to start with.

I personally wouldn't start with Davar, but instead with Study.com or SL for these.

Go to ALEKS.com and take Beginning Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Precalculus, and Business Statistics. Charter Oak will take all of those as well as your regular stats class. Try to do this before 2/28/2017 (no pressure Smile ).
BA, MA, EdS, MMT, etc.

I was suffering from analysis paralysis again so it's great getting some solid advice.

I'll drop PLA; looked into it a more and realized that I'm not too keen on writing papers right now--thanks davewill.
dfrecore: thank you taking the time creating a TESU degree plan for me, very helpful. I guess I'll wait to see what credits COSC will give me. KayV: I'll look into ALEKS.com--thanks!
